Hi friends

I have recently got Yamaha RX-V573 reciever from states. Now on the hunt for speakers to go with them. Since I am a novice to this field, I am heavily dependent on the suggestions. Looking for a 5.1 speaker set up, max budget is 40k. Usage would be music(65%) , movies(35%). Preference is for bookshelves (due to more inclination towards music) but I know it can be tight in this budget.
Hence open to suggestions.
I would like to go for a one time set up against a staggered set up of having front first and then waiting to get rear or sub.

Kindly suggest.

Isn't FS speakers are better for music? Experienced FMs can clarify this.

Hi, u can audition the new diamond 121s, usually yamaha and wharfs go well. U can get the matching centre and surrounds also easily. But sub may be bit difficult within the budget, u can get the astonia sub which is the best within the 10k range.

Or see if u can get the complete 5.0 diamond package. U can get a higher discount in that case. The diamond series is good for music and is a risk free setup.

If u can build the system slowly then I suggest u buy very good fs/bs within that budget and a matching centre and use ur old speakers for surrounds. Then u have more options. Alternately buy the fronts, centre and sub within 40k and use old ur speakers as surrounds till u can buy them later. Since u r more into music spend the max u can on good fronts, u will not regret it.

Thanks, I am not looking for FS due to space constraints. For music would there be considerable difference between BS and satellite speakers ?
Would it be worthwhile going for a 5.1 set up within my budget( 40k)?
Or satellites are not a good option to consider if my inclination is more towards music ??
Kindly suggest, confused!!!!

Hi Max, for music bookshelves are far better in my personal experience. So stick to BS and try to use your old speakers for surrounds. Trust me, instead of going for the whole setup now, u can buy the surrounds later, tweak ur avr for better results if u r using other brands as surrounds.

But donot compromise on fronts and centre. You can get the sub also later. You have a nice avr and you will get better results if u pair them with better speakers. This is my personal experience, you will loose a lot of money later if u r not satisfied with ur initial setup. It happened tp me, Just ensure that u will not need to upgrade for next 3-4 years.

Thanks sgautam which BS center and sub do you recommend to go with yamaha? Max budget for BS , center and sub would be 35k. Recommendations ?

You can audition Dali Lektor 1, Klipsch RB-41, or you can also see sonodyne sonus 1501.....
Wharfs and yamaha is also a good match. But final verdict should come from your ears......

Max, you can go with a 5.1 now if you want a surround effect right away. But if you want a good system for the long term, better to go component by component.

In Whathifi I see Boston Ac. Soundware XS SE 5.1 for Rs 33k and Wharf DX 1HCP 5.1 for Rs 45k, both rated 5 star. Sorry I did not hear either.

I am using Monitor Audio with a Yamaha Amp in a 2.0 setup, both were award winners, and the pairing was also recommended by Whathifi. I'm happy with the pairing.

If I may ask about your receiver from the US: did it come with a 220v switch?

Hi Max as you are more inclined towards music, Start with a with a good quality bookshelves such as Dali you can spend the entire budget for it and later you can add the center ,surrounds and probably a stereo Amp:licklips:, Im using my Yamaha reciver with Dali Concept 6 and it pairs very well but Dali concepts are budget floorstanders . You should look a bit higher up in the line in this way you can get satisfied for years without upgrading you should also keep the volume of you listening area in your mind.

Thanks
Saran

Thanks acuity. The reciever does not have a 220v switch, I need to go with a step down , do you see any issues with that?
Also any suggestions how jbl's control one BS will go with yamaha?

Thanks guys , I don't find anyone here recommending jbl , are they not worth their price?

Hi, there are better speakers than the control 1s for a little more money. Moreover they struggle to create a big enough sound stage in even a slightly bigger room. I am talking of may be 12x12 sort or more. But my experience was only with topping.

If u have seen the suggestions by our members, u can deduce that u should be spending the max possible on speakers first. Did u start auditioning yet,

When you say better than control ones for a little more money, which ones are you referring to? Control ones are priced at 8k a pair I guess.
Kindly suggest

Hi Max, u can safely buy the CA S30s, for 2k more they r better by a good margin.

But as Shivam said the safest pairing is with wharfedale. They are very very good speakers and offer fantastic value.

Thanks, can you specify wharfdale BS model number and approx cost? Also what abt Center and sub?

I have a pair of Wharfedale 10.7 available is they interest you for front left and front right speakers. You can match them with 10.1 speakers available at hifimart itself.
