Squeezebox Duet Deal for anyone interested

SQ-wise I would rate the CD6003 over the SB Duet. I have not done an A-B comparison between the SB Touch and the Duet, but a friend who has both SB Touch and Duet prefers the Duet over the touch from an SQ standpoint.

Depends on what you are looking for. If you are looking to start ripping your CDs or have a lot of FLAC, MP3 etc, the Squeezebox is the way to go. If SQ matters more than convenience, go for the CD6003.

I suspect that anyone who is wondering whether to buy a squeezebox or a CD player should probably buy the CD player.

I don't feel that the Squeezeboxes are meant to replace a CD player. They have two purposes: to wirelessly play content stored digitally on a PC (etc) and to play that content in one, two or more locations around the house.

If you are looking at your PC and your hifi, and thinking, "content on PC; cable not possible. How?" a squeezebox is a solution to that problem.

If you have decided to cut out the CD/Vinyl stage, and to put everything on hard-disk storage, then, again, a Squeezebox is solution to that problem.

If, on the other hand, you have a shelf full of CDs which you want to play...

There is other stuff the Squeezeboxes will do, like streaming internet radio into your hifi. What's more, yes, you can play a CD from your PC's cd drive, but that is not the primary purpose --- to the extent that Squeezeplayer, IIRC, requires an add-in to do it.
