ST50 Owners' Thread - First impressions, Reviews, Tweaks, etc.

Finally, my TV is installed on the wall (in the bedroom) where it was mean to be. Please excuse me - I know my home needs a fresh coat of paint - but somehow that is not find a mahurat.

Whats the height..Can you click from your bed...

Feel a bit high...
Height seems to be OK for me. The top of TV is at 5' 6" from the floor. My beds/cots are old style and my lying down surface is 24" off the ground. I feel the height is just right for resting position (back against the back rest). It is not right for sleeping position; which is bad for TV watching.

When I am sitting on the bed, my eye level is at 1/3rd from the TV bottom.

What do you exactly mean "Can you click from your bed?"

Note that the wall mount brackets on the TV are adjustable. I can push the TV down by 6" more.

I assumed its your bedroom, so from viewers point of view.

Had no idea that wall mounts can be adjusted...I just my set-up, no way there was a flexibility in there..Mine is set-up at 6 ft

@lcdfreek, I suspect that you are getting this impression because of pic 2 which I have taken while kneeling down on the floor.

But you can judge the height from pic 1.

- the window can be seen; the window sill is 30" from the floor
- at the extreme right, you can see a (closed) door that leads to the attached bath (door height is around 7').
- the glass shelf on top is at 6' 3"

Yes. It is my bedroom. I believe that Sony wall mounts are not flexible. At least that is what my carpenter was saying and he does many such jobs. Panasonic wall mount brackets are. He showed me different holes where we can adjust the height.

Nice i think it would be better if u kept that glass shelf below your TV..

No. I thought about that. The TV is on the pathway wall. If the shelf was at the bottom, it would have interfered with the person moving across.

Most unlikely. I don't intend to keep anything more than what you actually see out there just now. Anyway, the shelf may not hold lot of things.

Nice install! I'm jealous of your adjustable bracket. The free one I rec'd isn't adjustable :(

Also, I noticed that sticker on your screen (top left). I'm amazed at how many people, including myself, don't remove stickers on their new gadgets. I made a particular effort this time around to remove mine :(

just4kix: Do the EY3D3 glasses work on the 2012 series? I thought the 2012 series work with the new EY3D4 glasses only?

This is typical indian mentality... stickers, polycovers, remote covers, seat covers etc etc...

The sticker tapes are still on. Yes. I have not removed them. The Panasonic sticker is inside the sticker. I have not removed them because the outer frame is very shiny and finger print smudges can be seen 8 feet away.

The glasses that came with my set do not mention the model number. They are non-rechargeable light-weight glasses and they work. I guess that they are the 2012 series. It is known that 2011 glasses don't work with 2012 tv's, do they?

Well your bill pic in the first post is the 2011 glasses SKU, so you tell me :)
I think they mention the 2012 glasses don't work with 2011, haven't heard any comments about the other way around, hence the query to you...

The glasses mentioned in the invoice are wrong. I have the 2012 models. Only that I am not aware of the exact model number - not being mentioned on the box or the glasses themselves.

I will do so. The remote has white semi-transparent buttons with orange backlight.

82K? 42ST50 right? Else you will give me a heart attack. :) Good choice - ST50. Welcome to the club, whenever.

That's a good price and lowest that I found in B'lore. I believe that the glasses on the 2011 models are different and will not work with 2012. I read it somewhere but can't locate the link just now.
