Hey all, need some expert advice again.
I have some DTS files that have very low frequency sounds going down to 20hz and so. But my sub SVS PB-1000, just don't play those sounds, it does support those frequencies though. It is hooked up with Yamaha V773 amp. Don't know whats wrong, please help.

Need more info and your tuning, crossover settings. How do you know it's not going down? You can't hear 20 ha freq for the most part

I have set the crossover at 120 as my speakers are small. In my AVR setup i don't see any setting for sub other than levels.
Actually these DTS files i used to setup my friend's system, he has a Mirage sub and that played the lower frequencies in these particular files really well. By low frequencies i m referring to those that you "feel" more than hearing :p

Hi

The avr should have some bass management settings....

It also depends on what kind of sub woofer is being used...front firing or down firing....ported or sealed.... size of cone also matters...

Play with the settings maybe you will hear those frequencies if you juice up levels...

what avr are you using and what do you mean by when you say you can only see sub levels. Its perfectly fine to set your speakers to small (even floor standers are recommended to be setup as small by some avr calibration systems when they dont go down to 20Hz but thats a separte topic matter). and where are you able to set the cross over?

I am using Yamaha V-773, by sub levels i meant, the volume levels the AVR sets for individual channels. I have manually tried to up the sub levels few decibels but didn't really help. Please check the attached image, there i set the crossovers, and when i click on individual channels i can set the volume levels and distance of each speakers and sub as well.
I have tried the YPAO couple times but had same results.

What is the level set for the Sub after the first position calibration? When you play the files do you feel the driver moving? Did you try to re-position the sub in your room?

Turn off ypao and then try. Some receivers have sub eq and will muffle it if it determines its causing room issues. My avr did just that between 30 and 40hz which actually helped

Run yapo. Take notes on the levels of all speakers. Go for manual tweak (I.e. put the speaker distance and level in db manually). If lowering the volume of LCR and surrounds help, nothing like it.
