Hi friends , Being reading this forum for a long time but never posted much .
I am not much of an audiophile and neither an expert in this field so kindly ignore any mistakes .

The interiors of my new house are almost complete and i am yet to decide on my audio setup . Still have 2 more months so no hurry . Will use this time for auditions .

Budget is rather limited since i have spend too much on the interiors . In Rs 60000 INR i need an AVR , Front , rear and center speakers . No Subwoofer for now , i will connect my cheap Logitech Z623 sub to AVR pre-out . Also front speakers should be floorstanders ( to blend with the interiors ) .
I am from Vashi , Navi Mumbai so please suggest good places to audition . Can travel to mumbai too .

Currently i own 55' 3D HDTV from videocon , BD player , D2H and ps3 .
Usage will be 50%movies and TV , 30% music and 20% gaming .

My living room is rather on a big side and L-shaped . Dimension is around 18*12 or 18*22 including the L- shape . I have drawn a diagram of my room to help you understand better .

Also my wall/TV unit is such that there is no room to place the Sub-woofer , so can i place it behind the TV unit ? Please refer the diagram .

Hi Rohan,

In that budget, you should look for Polk TSI 300/400 with matching centre and surrounds along with Denon AVR x1000 (check the sales thread as a brand new one is available at around 30K). Else wharfedale or Monitor audio BX Floor stander with matching center and surrounds (wharfedale also will do). You can check out sonodyne speakers as well along with denon amp in that budget. If you look for Monitor audio, never opt for denon avr. Instead, go for marantz NR series around 25-28K due to pairing & output match. Denon + Polk: Bombastic for movies, too bright for music. Marantz + MA: excellent in music and good for movies (Denon if you watch movies above 50%). You may also check FS for boston acoustics (HIFImart offers are going on). Dont forget to check out Jamo also.(i may not recommend, but someone else may like the sound)

For simple placement, take middle point of the rear wall and place the speaker alongside tv in a perfect triangle shape (pls note the distance from centre point to both should be equal) with equal tilt in such a way till you get clear stereo separation & songs will appear like its coming from middle. for center speaker, better mound it on tv rake with 1ft above or below earlevel. For surrounds, can you re arrange the sofa little bit?? else place on rear wall up. Dont place sub behind tv as bass wave hit the tv stand & dissipates to open dining space. Also, In that budget, sub is not possible. Moreover, never do the mistake of adding logitech sub to the system as it will spoil all the goodness of these speakers.

Is the wall unit free standing?
From your illustration, it appears there is no seating directly in front of the TV.
This is not good as the sweet spot is not covered. Can this be changed? Can you move the wall unit to back up against the kitchen wall?
A couple of photos of the area would be good.

I agree with the above comments. The positioning is not pro-acoustics - you'll lose out a lot of Sound quality, and Audio enjoyment. Getting a spot right in front of the TV would be good. Do try to see if you can look at other placement options. Depending on the stage of your construction, maybe your door (right side) could be moved up to give a wall to place the TV.

Sub behind the TV is not a problem as long as it is not blocked by a cabinet or something. Since your TV will be standing on a shelf, maybe if there's enough space, the sub can go under the tv. don't forget to lay and conceal your wires before its too late.

Acuity,

User rpm is looking for your yamaha amp, pls get in touch with. Regarding sub, a massive one will make the entire tv shelf rattle and may spoil the acoustics.
