Hi,

Budget is approximately 1 L. Unable to decide which LED to go for. Was trying to get hold of 55" but it seems out of budget.

Kindly advice where should I begin with ?

Samsung 46F6100 is an old model. bezel will be thick and only one USB port for 80K rs. Coming to 48H5500, I personally Used H series. I used H5100 (non smart). I loved this TV until I faced display issues within 3 months of buying the TV.dark spots started to appear on the TV. Next 48H5570. There is a inbuilt set top box with this model. other than this its same as H5500.

Sony
Considering your budget I can recommend you Sony 50W800B. Its an excellent product from Sony. I am saying because I am doing lot of analysis in buying a new 42 inch TV. I would have bought 800B if there is a 42 inch model. But unfortunately only 50 inch available in 800B. If 3D is just an option for you, then u can very well go with 48W600B

My recommendation for ur budget Sony 50W800B. Gud Luck

950A is not really available & has been replaced by 950B which is close to 1.6L. Can't stretch to this extent. Where have you sourced the price from ??

How is Samsung 55F6400 ?? Around 1.2L. Will the waiting game work here since spending above this figure doesn't really make any sense since the usage will be scarce. Better I go ahead with the 80k 48" models.

Or if the 2015 models are gonna be launched anytime soon prices for 55" might depreciate even further (hopefully)

I will never recommend 950B and that too for a hefty sum of 1.6 L. My god. Its just too damn pricey for the cost.

Check for F8000 from Samsung. If not you have the H7000 and then the F6400. All these models in my opinion have the same type screen with different refresh rates and different backlight dimming method.

The PQ starts from F8000>H7000>6400. Had checked these TVs before buying the 950A.The one thing which I really haven't personally checked is the W800 from Sony.

Since you are going to occasionally use the TV, you can even think about the plasma. Fyi, we have a LG50PB6600 plasma too and got it for 53 k. Note that its a 50 Inch plasma. You check about the Samsung plasma too.

Plasma's are a not being considered since its an unfamiliar territory. So it all boils down to either Sony 600B/800B or maybe Samsung H5500 among the 50 / 48 inchers. Is Samsung 55 F6400 a decent option to consider or not keeping in mind that its the cheapest 55" available currently ??

Secondly is there an option of an extended warranty with either Samsung or Sony just for the sake of peace of mind & reliability ??

Will try finding these models at local shops & then decide according to the price quoted by them. BTW thanks a lot for the suggestions. This forum & its members are truly a boon to the community.:clapping:

samsung 55F6400 will cost you 1.2Lacs. Specs seems good. But its not a popular model. The problem not being a popular model - at certain point of time Manufacturer will dump the model and Software upgrade release will become extinct.

Sony 600B/800B, 800B will fit ur budget.

Coming to extended warranty, Samsung charges you very high compared to Sony. But trust me Samsung service & customer care is great.

Sony charges you Rs.7500 for 48 inches model and Rs.12,500 for 55 inches model for additional 2 years warranty

Samsung charges Rs.11,640 for 46 inches model and Rs.15,500 for 55 inches model for additional 2 years warranty.

Samsung also offers additional 3 years warranty which costs Rs.16,860 for 46 inches model and Rs.22,470 for 55 inches

Thanks a lot for the information. Will try hunting these models in the local stores. Online availability is almost nil at my place though snapdeal partially covers it but its usually hit and a miss for large items so I'm stuck with the prices quoted by these dealers.

LG 50LB6500 will cost you under a lac and seems to be a very good option as well owing to great passive 3D tech and WebOS interface.

Will have a look but for 1L I might go in for Sony 50 800W just for namesake instead of LG. Secondly I'm not a 3d fan nor do I have any 3d content so additional stuff really doesn't matter a lot to me. Reliability & PQ are my main requirements.
