Swift Dzire Audio

Hi Arup
Work is always a priority for all of us even if we like or not :)

Just again i will repeat go meet as many installers me and Neo have mentioned and then take a decision. Dont haste on it, even if it will take you a month to make only the visits, considering you will do when you are free.

I know going to someone like Boom you will get the best advice but still its worth spending the time.

Also try to visit the JBl shop at Oshiwara (its on the road ahead of Oshiwara police station). I have totally forgotten the name so i dont know if its included in the list Neo has given.

I managed to get the address of JBl store, but not the one in Oshiwara. I got this address from the site Sahil International who are India wide distributor of JBL. Just give them a call and plan a visit

Union Auto Industries
C-106 Vaibhav Industrial Estate,
Opp Oxford Chamber, Saki-Vihar Road,
Andheri (E)-72
9820050919/ 9320029418

Thanks a ton Rikhav, I am visiting Andheri this Sunday, infact was there yesterday too but just couldnt get away from where I was :( I will visit Union Auto. Infact will just call them now.

Best,
Arup

Hey! IMO Though JBL is Good, there are better value for money options, pl give them a listen as well.

As for damping the the Most VFM damping material i know of is Noise Kill it costs approx 150/sq.ft.

Some people also use heatlon or some cheaper rubber compounds, I haven't had a chance to hear their perfomance so can't comment.

The best damping available is dynamat but i feel it's overpriced.

You can talk to the various installers & see what they suggest. After which you may get a better idea.

You'll also have consdider the cabling which is also very imp.

Cheers

Hey Illusion,

Thanks mate.

What did that cost you? Also, the Maruti Dealer told me that if I replace the head unit, the steering controls will not work with the replacement. Plus warranty void.

I dont care about the warranty but, can these JBL guys do something about the integration with the steering wheel controls?

Also, Neo & Rikhav had mentioned about dampening the car. How is this done and what does it cost you?

Apprecite your concern mate.

Thanks,
Arup

yes Integration with steering wheel controls that can be a major issue . that is because pioneer has its own steering wheel remote which is different from the one used by the stock hu . I had done the install around 16 months back and it had costed me 31k then. Mind you out of these only the JBL GTO are with warranty, the rest are all grey market products.

Agreed, nowadays the market has really opened up . For Ex : Illusion speakers are also a good choice . You can opt for a 2way or a 3 way components but I think 2 ways are enough . Anyways it is really based upon the listener. JBL speakers are very bright as compared to the Pio's !! Hence I kept the pio's as rear speakers to provide the Lows and the JBL as front to provide the High and the Mids.

Arup please dont put speakers on the rear door of the car, it kills the sound in my opinion . Also if you are going for a sub you dont need ovals at the back , you can go for co-axials for the front and back with a subwoofer. Given ur situation i would change the HU if and only If I find that the combination of the new speakers and the stock HU are not good enough for your taste. Hey does the stock HU have pre-amp out ?

I had suggested Arup full range speakers at the rear (co-axials or components) only because sometimes he has a chauffer driving his car and in that case he would opt to sit on the rear set.

Actually Rikhav there are two reasons why i had said that . the first is obviously the sound , second it has also been seen that in some cases the rear door starts creating problems because of the weight of the speakers . This is in the case of swift hatch back . But again as far as my knowledge goes the rear door build has not been changed much or has it ?

No,I don't think so build would have been changed as far as the Swift hatchis concerned. No idea about the saloon model. But then if you want full range sound in the rear and dont want to go for 6X9s, fitting speakers in the door is the only option.
And all Marutis except for the SX4 are known to rattle from many places after a year or so of proper using. :) So I think its not the just due to the speakers the rear door rattles. If installation is done properly, I dont think it should be a problem except of the general rattling issues with the car.
By the way I have adviced him to go for components in the front as well as the rear. So he has a proper sound irrespective of where is he seated

Front and Rear compos sound great but he will have to do some good tuning via his HU or the sound may become too bright . But then he will have to add a Subwoofer to enjoy some decent bass . Hey arup if budget permits why dont u go for a monobloc amp. Pioneer make great monobloc amps !

His budget is around 50k
So lets hope he gets good HU, compos, sub, a 4 channel amp and a monobloc in that amount
Maybe for the time being he can skip sound dampning as I am sure he wont listen at insanely loud levels. But all depends on what prices he gets.
Lets hope for the best

Hey! If you still want to go ahead with phase one. Something that occured to me but i'm not sure if it'll work is, may be you can pull a parallel line form the spk level out in your HU & feed it to your mono amp. But pl check with you installer if this will work.

All the best.
Cheers.

This post is for satish aka audiodelic.Sorry:-(

Gosh!

Neo/ Rikhav/ Illusion,

You guys have been so helpful man! You should work in my office! I would not have been so busy in the first place! ;)

I will definately visit Sound FX, Andheri on Sunday and a JBL dealer in Thane on Thursday (taking the day off)

I shall post what the plan finally is and lets hope you guys will be satisfied too! :D

Thanks a ton friends, really appreciate and admire your inputs.

Very Warm Regards,
Arup

I love driving...... FAST and the wifey got upset :( and so I have a full time chauffer now friend.

So only on Sundays I get to do what I want in the car. Need the system for that time only. Otherwise I sit quitely reading the papers in the back seat listening to FM.

This forum is a great place only because everyone is ready to help :)
So we just returned the favor i would say
Also plan a visit to other installers as well that me and Neo mentioned.
Good luck

Hi, just stumbled on the thread.

One of the big issues with Swift/ Swift Dzire is the build quality, especially of the door panels. There is a lot of rattling and good speakers lose a lot of midbass to resonance. Good amount of damping is required on all the metal parts, and fiberglassing the insides of the door panels goes a long way in reinforcing them and eliminating boominess and rattles.

3-way can be installed in the doors, but please entrust the installation to someone who knows the job. A lot of cutting is in order. Here's a pic of 3-way Illusion Audio setup in a Swift front door. The midbass driver is 8"

2-way install is completely hassle free, and if the midbass driver is not larger than 6.5", it is concealed behind the factory grill.

Swift Dzire boot has lot of space and one can easily make room for a nice 12" sub or two.

Some good installers in mumbai that I know of are:
Ajay Kamat (9320447654),

Thanks neo, we try to do as well as we can. :)

Hi Ajay
I am sure many like Arup including also me will benifit a lot with your advice.

There are many who seek advice for car audio setup on this forum and your presence will help

Ajay is too busy with Team-BHP & rightly so as it is a much more happening forum esp for car audio. But B&T pl login a bit more regularly & try to help the lesser car audio mortals at Hifivision.:)

hahaha. Definitely. The home audio section is far more fun here. Will surely be around very frequently! :)

Good! Infact i remeber you pushing for a car audio section on this forum. But sadly the car audio section has not really picked up, i guess it's because people are tired of the money & time spent on home audio.
But I hope they realise geting a good ICE'ing in transportation has it's joy esp for people in Metro's as they spend more time in their car then their home's.
Cheers.

Hi ajay
By what name are you on TEAMBHP. I am not a very active member there but I go through almost all threads in the ICE section
