The Movies I Liked

Zootopia (2016) - IMDb

On the topic of 8 pointer IMDB ratings, here is another one (currently at 8.2). The premise is fine with a world of animals where predator and prey live like humans do.

Found the whole story and the suspense so tedious that nearly stopped paying attention to the movie.

Would rate it as a 6/10 in my view and I am being generous. My 7 year old also found it 'ok' in his words.

Eye in The sky is a nice thriller. Keeps one at the edge of the seat on quite a few occasions. It will feel like an average or a repeated take on terrorism in the beginning, however few minutes down the line it will be an absorbing movie. Will not ruin the suspense. Do watch and enjoy it.:)

Mystic River - Directed by Clint Eastwood, this is a gripping movie which drives you through the investigation of a murder both from a detective's perspective as well as the victim's father's perspective. Sean Penn has done a great job as the victim's father, who takes us through the emotional ride. Worth spending the time if you like slow paced thrillers

In the Heart of the Sea :

A thoroughly engaging movie and whattay sound effects on this one !! The whole room is literally shaking.

This one is apparently the untold story of Moby Dick . Slightly long, but a nice watch .

Warcraft (2016) - A Fantasy movie based on Warcraft video game series. Unfortunately critic ratings is not high and they claim that only the followers of the game will like it.I have never played the game but I enjoyed the movie. The movie is entertaining. The dialogues might not be top notch but i expect it to improve with the next one. Amazing visuals with tons of CGI. Should be a treat to watch for the large screen owners :)

Eye in the Sky and 13 hours:The secret soldiers of Benghazi are super thrillers, cannot be missed. Both are edge of the seat thrillers and in the end you have a heavy heart.

Murder in the first .... Wowoww after a looong time a powerhouse of a movie that had me completely satisfied. The movie is based on true events, BUT I was sad to read later, its just a fictitious story, that completely off trails from the actual events. (Completely I mean) .... BUT that did not hold me from giving this a solid 7/10. Its about a young attorney (played by Christian Slater) who defends an Alcatraz prisoner (Kevin Bacon) accused of murdering a fellow inmate. The movie is powerful, with tight spot on direction. Performances are brilliant, Christian Slater is very good in playing the attorney, but the show was stolen by the powerhouse, mind blowing performance by Kevin Bacon. I have seen lots of movies of Kevin Bacon and this would be in my top list as far as his performance goes. I and lots of other movie loves were not only surprised but agitated as well, on the fact that Kevin Bacon was not even nominated in the Oscars for this role. None the less, this movie is one not to be missed. as I said 7/10 for this one

PS and BTW this is completely and weird coincidental that I am posting this review right after oracle1974 post on the same movie ....lol .. I was like WHT!!!! :D

Bone Tomahawk (2015) - IMDb - Excellent genre bending movie... call it western horror if you will.

Slow to start off, but still highly entertaining. Excellent performances all around... especially Kurt Russell and Patrick Wilson.

PS: Some gruesome torture scenes, so not for kids.

My kinda movie, I dont like Horror genre, but love western, anyway this looks more like a thriller .... "acquiring".. :)

Some recent western movies I liked... I'll stick to the recent ones. All of John Wayne and James Stewart westerns are great... also the movies by John Ford, but everyone knows about them... so sticking to the relatively new ones.

True Grit (2010) - IMDb
3:10 to Yuma (2007) - IMDb
The Homesman (2014) - IMDb
The Missing (2003) - IMDb
Django Unchained (2012) - IMDb

^^ Seen All except "The Homesman" ...:)

If you have not seen it, I will suggest one of my all time fav western ... Open Range .... was blown out by this movie in all departments ...... YMMV.

Seen it. Yup its excellent. Totally gripping, especially the ending/fighting and also great performances by everyone.

This is one move all folks should see... even if not into the western genre. Shows how a simple story, no CGI, no superheroes, etc. can still make for an excellent movie with superb acting/performances alone.
