Hi.

Does any one have any idea where one can get Cambridge Audio S30.There does not seem to be even a single pair available in Chennai....Anywhere else??

Looks like a whole lotta people(incl of me!) are searching for the ca s30.heard its not available even i bengaluru!.all startd with someone saying its pairs perfect with the topping!

CA S30 is indeed good with the Topping. I had tried it out and was impressed too.

BUT, even that speaker had clipped on high volume levels ... 2'O clock position was the cut-off. My current ones stay stable even at 3'O clock. Frankly, have'nt gone further as the sound becomes deafening ... yet .. clean.

Just auditioned the Whar Diamond 8.1. It also pairs very well and is a VFM if you get second hand for 5 to 6k

After reading through all the 50 pages here, I ordered Topping TP20 on 13th Nov and got it delivered today. No hassle with Bangalore customs, it just got delivered home by the postman. Last year, for a similar shipment, I had to go to the customs post office with invoice copy and pay duty. So I was prepared for the worst , but this came as a pleasant surprise.

I ordered it from (now) famous Peter , ebay id - indeed-hi-fi. Very nice guy to deal with and very prompt as well. Total cost including shipping Rs 3703/-

Now my search for a good pair of speakers starts. Any help to source a BS in Bangalore will be appreciated. Budget up to 20K. Needs wood finish for my bedroom. So JBL control1 is ruled out.

20k? add 2k and get the Usher S520, there's nothing in the price range that is better. Trust me. Not only does it sound excellent, it's impedance behaviour is perfectly suited for a low-power amplifier like the Topping (i lived with this combination for a significant amount of time). Presenting a constant impedance load that remains above 6 ohms, the combination exhibits great bass control, dynamics and of course detail. at the very least hop over to ARN systems on coles road, fraser town, with your Topping, hook it up to the Usher S520 and have a listen. I'd be surprised if you're NOT convinced All the best.

I am not sure how good the Alpha B1 will be with the Topping, because of its impedance behaviour as measured in detail by Stereophile. It's a great pair of speakers and one of the best options in its price range, but might not be the best match for the Topping.

Hi, Update from my side

Got MA BR2 for my Topping from Audio Planet. Went there to look at CA S30, but no stock. Looking for other options, I saw new boxes of BR1 and BR2. I was asked to try BR1 , but I thought let me try BR2 instead , thinking that this would be good investment.

At 12'O clock position , Topping was putting out enough sound. Beyond 1'O clock, I could sense some amount of distortion coming in. Clear highs , okay Mid and Low.
I am liking it.

Now on the look out floor good speaker stands for BR2 ....

Ok ... BR2 clips at 1'O clock. I too had found the same. At low volumes, it should give better lows, I guess, than most others. Any indications on its price?

S30 can manage 2'O clock. With Control 1s have gone upto 3'O clock, and did not have the guts to get any further on MY .. speakers.

No I could not try BR1..was in a hurry. 22K for BR2 . No bargaining. I look forward to your review on speaker stands.

my guess is that he might not have. He would have bought them otherwise . But comparing the two I guess where the BR2 wins out is on LFE. bigger driver and bigger cabinet mean lower bass. Would have been great if he'd had a chance to check out the BX2.

Zero DAC(8.1 K) to my Dell Laptop via a Dock

Here are connections

Laptop - > USB -> Zero DAC -> RCA -> Topping TP20 -> Cheap Cable - > JBL Control One

Laptop -> VGA -> Plasma -> then control PC via Bluetooth and Nokia Mobile.

All I can say that in a room 20 by 9 by 10 ( Height) the speakers get very loud at 3 o clock position and there is no distortion and by then Mom starts complaining to reduce it and close the doors.

Not a expert on Audio Quality but can feel Sonu Nigam sitting in front of me and singing. Exceptional Quality :yahoo:

I have AT-M50 headphones and FIIO E7. I feel Quality is same if not better and ATM-50 are one damn good Headphones.

FLAC sound better than MP3 at 320.

The soundstage is extremely good.

I audiotened Denon 1311 with Waferdale 9.5 and 9.6 and 10.1 and 10.2 speakers with CD a source.


All I can say that it is far better than that combination but that combination is not geared at music.

Compared to topping to my Sony HTIB and sony doesnt stands any chance.

I have Xtreamer with 2 TB HDDs and Tata Sky HD, Am planning to connect it once to such sources to see the result. ( May be a project for Weekend)

True ...I did not try the Usher. I saw that they were less sensitive. I did speak with the dealer ARN systems and would have gone there if BR2 was less than satisfactory.
So I would suggest you also check the Usher and BR1 ( I think both have similar sensitivity)
BX2s are not available yet . Dealer said he had a sample piece. According to him it is going to cost 28-29K.
