Tube Preamp suggestions to go with QUAD 306 power amp

If you can DIY, try the 'John Broskie' Aikido. I've built the octal version with 6SN7s. With Altecs the absence of any noise on the HF horns is amazing.
The detail, imaging and focus with a Tubelab TSE in single ended sounds great.

Where did you auditioned it?

I have quad 306 power amp. I have loaned vincent sa 31 preamp from my friend to check with my power amp. Speaker monitor audio bookshelves.

With Quad amplifier, active pre amplifier is very hard to matching. I used tube buffer self made with 6h30PI tube ;sound good.

Owned AP swara pre and its very good. If you looking for tube warmth then it may not fit the bill. The design philosophy of AP pre is neutrality which it does brilliantly. AB tested with classe 35 pre and AP holds its ground nicely inspite of being significantly cheaper. Later sold and upgraded to bryston bp25 and never looked back. Never heard a lyrita so not sure about the sound signature.
