TV for 55k

I don't think people use factory settings in home..they can adjust individual color as they like.
I agree and disagree. Most people adjust contrast and brightness but leave the colour settings alone. At most they may adjust the tint to an extent. A miniscule will tinker the sharpness. And adjusting individual RBG pallete, gamma, etc. is mostly beyond the comprehension of laymen.

99% people use the default colour settings... only the 1% geeks who are interested in such stuff do such stuff

my experience, with like the 10 people(who own HD LCD's etc) who i met in person, is that all of them use the default settings

I've even seen quite a few use SD DTH with HD TV's

btw, i was planning to hook up my dvd player and use the tv speakers. But there's a second option of using my 9 year old philips music system. It has 4 speakers. Will i be able to connect it to the tv, and use it even when i'm watching DTH?

Which tv model are you getting and most of the music systems don't have an audio in jack..can you check if your music system has an audio in/L-R in jack.

You should search the net more before making comment on movie mood..not sure if it's mode..also on color reproduction..and also planet earth bluray.

no its not a typo... I meant mood......a mood is what we crave for spending so much on ht systems....right??

and you are yourself distracting from your own point

you said theter is better than a led

yes or no

you said yes.

now I said plasma is most close to theter.....
I asked you for a yes or a no...
simple
do you find plasma most close or do you find leds most close....

one shot answer.....

why are you dragging planet earth, color reproduction etc techyy terms....

again asking do you find leds most close to theter colors than a plasma...

yes or no please......

if yes.......cool.beuty lies in the eye of beholder......

I think what he is arguing about is the fact that you are making it sound as if Plasmas have some inherent superiority when it comes to colors that LED sets just can't match.

So yes you are right that Plasmas by default have a more Cinema like picture, but LED sets can also be calibrated in a similar fashion to deliver a cinema like picture.

The points need to be highlighted at the time of tv purchasing-
1.video processing-How to know if a tv is not over processing a video..standard bluray to choose-Warrior, Green Zone, Gladiator.
There are many sequence in green zone and warrior which are grainy than others..so look if the video in your tv is exact what directors are intended to represent in those scenes.
In gladiator there are various close up shots of face..check if the skin is looking natural/crisp as it should be.
2.Color accuracy-Now there are a long list of blurays to choose from..
Saturated color-Transformers trilogy, Twilight..
A little bit less color(used in most darker movies)-Harry potter series from 3-7,Raven etc.
Natural color-Planet earth
No so good color- Jurassic park(bluray transfer is not great)
3.Black level-Dark knight.
4.Pic quality-You will not get same picture as theater by playing a bluray disc cause the data in theater use almost zero/very less compression where bluray uses high compression. So there is no point comparing these two picture qualities.
For a little example - when you play a br disc when there is a scene with varying same color like(dark red to light red)..you might see a very little color banding..where in theater you won't see any such thing..but if you try to encode it to lower size you will see color banding..why cause the information here is less hence the video processor represent it by band..but not smooth color gradient.

Power cuts are common here. is the sudden switching off of the LCD harmful for it?
I read, some people are using Ups?

Nothing like that ,people are treating the LED tvs
as initial days of computer !

we were told that the computer must be in super clean room ...else its brain gets disturbed .

i suggest if you get a "Manual auto cut" stabilizer keep in the power line , although very tough to find , it will save you from extreme stages of voltage spikes . Many appliances were fried by automatic stabilizers .
