Upgrade my 40 inch LCD ?

Hi Guys,

Thinking of upgrading my display to a bigger panel. So in this context am contemplating selling off my current LCD.

Details :
Brand & Model No. : Samsung C530
Type : 40inches LCD - Full HD 1080 * 1920
Age : Around 1 yr old in Jun/Jul
Has 3HDMI ports, USB and supports NTFS partitions and plays MKV files off the HDD

Maintained flawlessly and very less used as I have another idiot box in the bed room for daily TV needs.

Obviously will out of warranty in Jun/Jul

Whats the price range I should expect for this ?

I want to upgrade now to a bigger panel. Is 3D any good ? What type of TV should I finalise LED/Plasma?

I want a bigger image size so should I go with a TV or projector ? Should I wait for new technology ? I mainly watch sports then films (around 2 a month)

Researching the web and I find that a couple of new technologies around the horizon.One is 3D without glasses as a lot of people would then be converts to the new technology and it will be less cumbersome.

Further the SED / OLED display could become the alternative display technology in around 2-3 yrs (but the prices will be terribly high initially).

In case of a projector should I go for for a 2D or 3D ?

I would strongly suggest you to hold your purchase for about 3 years as your TV will most probably be like brand new then and the depreciation of 2nd value will not be much from now.

OLED manufacturing technology is CHEAPEST and hence its not necessary that it will cost a bomb at the launch especially when the cost of TVs are going down each year.

If you can't hold back, I suggest you go with the best VFM 3D plasma for now - 51D550. 3D is awesome on it and has similar USB playback like your TV and will be a huge upgrade in terms of 2D picture size and quality. It also looks much better than your TV and currently available similarly priced TVs and has similar picture processing like your TV (better than Panasonic and LG).

+1 to prankey. The TV is new and good. No point in changing it right now.

+1 - in case you are thinking of an upgrade wrt to 3D etc, not worth it IMHO.

Go and watch the LG cinema series with 3D they sure blow you away
