Hi,

I need to buy another TV for my niece. Please suggest XT50@48K vs ST30@56K...

Question a :

I am nt sure if 3D of ST30 is at par with XT50. Worried about Flickering issues

Question b:
Also, is ST30 a good product as I would be getting July 2011 model ?? Over an year old product?

I am paying extra 8K for a year old TV? Does it make sense

ST30 is mid-range quality plasma whereas Xt50 is an entry level plasma. ST30 is definitely superior in terms of PQ - 2011 or not. In Xt50, panasonic has brightened the panel but the same can be achieved by increasing the brightness of the St30. But the inherent panel of St30 is neoPDP with infinite black pro filter which is definitely worth the 8k difference.

The only drawback of St30 is the 3D - the 2012 glasses are not compatible.

Hey hes getting that for his niece lol
anyway
why not sammy 43e490 ?
I heard it got real black panel and better pq and cheaper that xt

Hw about Fluctuating Brightness? Final Doubt

Thanks Man!! I was concerned about ST30 being dull in comparison to XT50.

If brightness increase in ST30 can match XT50 then its COOL.3D glasses are not that big a concern till the point 3D quality is same.

How about Fluctuating brightness?

XT50 is brighter inherently.
If you increase St30's brightness, you will lose the inky blacks.
Maybe you need 2 different settings for day and night and I doubt the brightness of XT50 can be matched even then.

The dullness is due to inherently less brighter panel coupled with the infinite black pro filter which still limits the light output.

I will go so far as to say XT50 will look better in the nights and ST30 in the mornings.

Of course, ST50 has the best of both worlds and eliminates the 50Hz bug from the St30.

on the XT50 thread - you dont seem to that happy??????

Only for Blu Rays buddy and some bit of reflection..rest i have always shared + ve abt it....

You also faced some pixel issues for which you changed settings I guess..that does not make it a bad bit...[..rest all is fine..vese this id is used by kiddos at home as well...lol:ohyeah:

B]Still wonder how good ST30 be I still do...lol[/B]

Thanks....Brightness makes XT look good..Kya confusion he...:-(

ST30 is better per reviews but its not available for demo....Not fair.Stumped

My room has no outside light source. Only light source is one 40W light

for the 50K I paid..if it works flawlessly for 3 years I will be happy..after seeing Nishabs worries sometimes I get tensed up....lets hope for the best...

In fact yesterday for the first time in 2 months, I saw a LCD TV - a LG LED 42 incher and no comparison with my Plasma..mines way better..:clapping:

cant compare an entry level plasma (XT50) to ST30...............despite a brighter panel for XT50, the ST30 would still excel with neo pdp panel and infinite black pro. If you anyways do not have to deal with excessive light in the room, ST30 would be great. If you want the best of both I would suggest UT50.........you get the brighter new panel alongwith the inky blacks of ST50.

Thats great..could you please share if UT50 has Neo PDP & Infine Black Pro thing...If not, UT50 would mean 5-8K over ST30, would that be worth it :-(

Also please help with Fluctuating brightness & green blobs thing on ST30
