Guys,

I have been planning on a NAS for home for a while now. Purpose is file sharing/streaming/downloads.

I earlier thought of a mini ITX built, then mini ATX (flexibility with components).

My current thoughts are on doing it using a USB NAS adaptor. Should be cheaper, right? Lower power too.

I would like your thoughts on the pros and cons. Best online sites to buy from. Thanks in advance.

Your best bet would be Pogoplug device. I am using the same with tweaks to enable Samba sharing based on this site. The same site lists instructions to run the Torrent/Transmission clients, but I have not yet installed the same. You can read more online to see if it suits your requirements. I am using 2 of my 1TB external HDD to share my music across the network. I got mine thru ishopinternational.com site for around 2K.

A beautiful, well-constructed speaker with class-leading soundstage, imaging and bass that is fast, deep, and precise.
