Which Amp should I use?

I am buying a house at the end of the month that has an existing home theater system. The current receiver is a Sony DA3600ES. I current have a Pioneer Elite VSX-40 .

The existing speakers are Episodes.

Front:

Episode Speakers - Episode 900 Series In-Wall Home Theater LCR Speaker with Dual 6.5 in. Woofers (Each)

Surround.
Episode Speakers - Episode 300 Series Large On-Wall LCR Speaker with 3 in. Woofers (Black | Each)

Just want to make sure that he existing Sony is the way to go. Thanks for your feedback.

Hi accessguru

You need to ensure that the impedance of the speakers is same or higher than the amplifier / AVR.

Secondly the output of the speakers need to be 25% - 60% more than the amplifier / AVR....gives enough room to drive and perform...there is no harm if the Amp / AVR is the same or more in output...you will need to ensure that you don't crank up the volume too high or else set the volume levels for each speaker appropriately...

There are other brands of amps / avrs you may want to consider if the Sony does not work or match well for your needs....Marantz, Audio Lab, Denon. Yamaha, Rotel etc...

Did you listen to the setup you have mentioned about?
If yes, did you find anything wrong in it? Did you like its performance?
If yes, you should not be concerned about anything unless you reach a stage where you know you want more (sound quality of course).

For me, the combo appears to be alright. The original buyer must have done some little research for the money spent.

Yesterday, I visited the seller and he gave me a "demo". The current setup sounds great and is very impressive. After doing a bit more research, the existing Sony amp is better than my Pioneer Elite, and puts out plenty of power for size of the room and listening levels. He doesn't have a sub woofer, but I have an M&K and an Earthquake that I'll add for the finishing touch .
