Guys I currently have Hero Honda Passion Plus which I have been using for more than 8 years. Couple of years back I had Engine Overhaul done once it crossed 1,00,000 Kms. Now it's almost crossed 30,000 Kms. The pick up isn't that good now. So want to go for a new bike.

I'm primarily looking at mileage more than power. However power should be decent enough.
Currently have Honda shine on my mind. Someone was suggesting Bajaj Platina as well but heard Bajaj bikes are not that durable.
Was thinking of Pulsar as well but it's around 75k I think.

Budget is 50k.

Kindly give your suggestions!

Afaik, with the kind of experience that you are used to with hh passion, you need something with a honda engine itself.
To keep a bajaj engine top notch, the effort required is much more. However once you do that you will get good power and mileage for years ( I used to get 50kmpl with my 8yr old pulsar 180).
I would suggest you look at hh super splendor, honda shine, honda dream yuga etc. Suzuki is also coming out with Hayafe.
Another option if you are ready to go Bajaj is the Boxer 150, it s a good machine and in your budget.

Keep it closer to Hi-Fi AFAP
Why?

Splendor I feel isn't that great with power. Not too keen on Suzuki models.
Didn't like boxer that much. Again I feel power isn't that good in it.

Honda Shine or Hero Glamour, either of the 2 will be best for you. Stick to a Honda, as you are already used to 1 (8 years on 1 commuter bike is a loong time) :clapping:

I think the options given above by you are the ones even I was thinking about.
Thanks for reading my mind. :)

^^ Exactly. It is quite difficult to get the "Fill it, Shut it, Forget it" experience with other bikes!

why dont you go in for a second hand Royal Enfield ?

I wish this was true these days, atleast in the south, AFAIK. People are asking obscene money for total junk, just because there are people out there willing to pay for the label. Someone in B'lore offered me 1.5L for my '85 standard. Ridiculous!

Guys Hero Honda Passion was I assume built by Hero Honda which has now become Hero Motocorp and Honda is altogether a different entity. How come both their engines will be similar?

As far as I understand, though the JV does not exist anymore, it is possible that HH may still have a license to produce engines using Honda's technology for a certain period of time.

seriously... that too a CI ... man he said a mileage bike and low maintainence

and buying old RE that too for a noob is like jumping in unknown waters. you know the depth once you are in...

stick to Hero moto corp/honda commuter segment and pay for petrol rest will work just fine.

grubyhalo, the RE craze has driven prices up like anything and there are lot of people who are getting in it just to look macho/join the bandwagon and they will pay exorbitant amount of money for junk bikes.

On the topic, RE be it UCE or CI is not really what the OP seems to need.

Andy, HH or currently Hero Moto Corp do not design their own engines. All their engines/tech are derived from Honda. And afaik, the 100cc sloper engine that they use in the Splendor/Passion is just a slight evolution of what was initially used in the CD100.

Even Hero Moto Corps, 150cc offerings(Hunk,Cbz extreme, Achiever) use the Honda Unicorn's engine, just slight differences in cam profile, tuning etc.

The Karizma supposedly uses a detuned Honda CRF 230 engine.

Sell at this price and get a spanking new Bullet:)

Another obscenely priced bike is the Rajdoot 350. The first time I casually enquired years ago it was going for 28-35K, plus another 15-20K for a thorough overhaul. A year later the price had mysteriously shot up to 85K+ plus cost of overhauling.

I don't think my bike will be up for sale till I have the strength to take it off the stand and start it. After that, I may just give it away to someone who would appreciate it as much as I did. :) And, even if I have the money, I don't think I'd buy the new 'Bullet', but thats just me...:ohyeah:
