Which bike to buy?

Hi, you can check out Hero MotoCorp lgnitor 125. The price is Rs. 58,638. The another one which i would like to suggest you is latest launch of TVS bike Apache 2012 with the price range of 80000 INR. You can get classy colors on this model like yellow, grey, black and white.

I am using Honda Unicorn from last three years and its over 38000 Km and never had any issue with engine.

According to me it is a gem of an engine....The quality of the engine actually shows only after the wear & tear....

I had on oppurtunity to ride my friends bike - borrowed (Unicorn) which had done around 40K kms, after i rode it for 20 Kms, i loved it so much & just couldn't console myself that i am riding a bike that is old...

I guess he maintained it well, but it is the most beautiful bike i LOVE today more than my Karizma....

I think you should go for Hero honda passion pro..current price rate is around 44K or either go for Hero honda glamour Fi which come at around 55400 Rs.

unicorn is good.. and everything comes with + and -ves.. and to your statement of it being 200.. it would have been no longer commuter..

in india commuter segment is still 100's, 125's

150's and above is premium and 250's is sport which are so called sissy bikes in other countries.. lets hope the riding scene in india changes... sorry for the OT.

for pure commuting go for a 100/125 cc/.. light weight and easily flickable in traffic..

I have shortlisted these bikes.
1. Yamaha Fazer
2. Honda Unicorn
3. Honda Shine

After checking the price for Fazer which seems to be around 89k on road I have to drop this option. So now need to decide between Unicorn or Shine or any Yamaha or TVS Apache.

More inclined towards Unicorn followed by Shine. what will be the difference between these two?

Thanks Aman for your inputs.

My vote for Unicorn.. it costed me around 59k including accessories two years back..
Discover is also an option but Unicorn is better than discover in my opinion..

Hi andy,

Go thro this :

Bajaj Discover 125, Buy Bajaj Discover, Bajaj Discover Motorcycle

My Bajaj service dealer told me that price on road will be Rs.63k, and has nice performance.

N.Murali
Thanks Murali for your suggestion. But I'm not keen on Bajaj.

Unicorn looks good option to me but the price is letting me think Rs 79k on road price.

Unicorn is better option.
Though Shine is one of the best seller in 125cc segment, many people say it has niggling issues like swinging mileage figures and all.

Unicorn is proven !
Go for it.

andy78, have you test rode the bikes you have short-listed?

I ride Unicorn since 3 years (after upgrading from HH Splendor) and I like it.
In fact I decided to go for Unicorn after I rode a very old Unicorn bike.
Mind you the Unicorn you see now is slightly taller, and bulkier compared to the old version and to most, if not all, 150 cc bikes.

To me, although I like the bike, I advise you to test-ride it and then decide. Because it is taller and heavier, some average-built people may not feel comfortable with it. I am average built, and despite this I like it.

If you want to stick with the Unicorn, you may want to consider Honda Dazzler as well. I haven't got a chance to try it, but I believe it has same engine as Unicorn, but is slightly shorter, lighter and faster.

Just my thoughts!

I don't know what would be termed as average built? I'm 5'11" tall. Would that be average?

Go for Honda Unicorn

Great bike, superb pickup, great milage

built quality is also too good

All the best

Thatz above averagae buddy :ohyeah:.. BTW your height will be Juz perfect for Unicorn..

Don't hesitate spending 79K on Unicorn. You will NEVER feel the pinch for many years to come if you maintain it very well...

I have maintained my current Hero Honda Passion plus for almost a decade now and most of the service center guys still praise me saying the bike is in good condition the reason for which could have been the way I have maintained it. Earlier I was thinking of increasing my budget to over 70k but 79k is a doubt. So need to check. I have a feeling need to adjust with Shine.

Andy, trust me Shine is a Good bike, you can not go wrong with it, but over time you will feel wanting for more power, that is where Unicorn scores. Delay your purchase if you can.

Apologies if I have confused you more ;)
