Thanks to a friend I got opportunity to listen to the Fostex T50RP headphones driven by Beresford DAC/Headphone amplifier.
My listening impressions:
First 5 minutes:
- Was sounding very different. Sounded very flat.
- Unlike many headphones which catch your attention with trebel and bass from first note which I was used to expecting.
After listening for 15 minutes:
- started to enjoy the "flat" sound.
- Extremely relaxing to hear. None of the trebel and bass thrown at you. Very natural sounding.
After few hours:
- No listening fatigue
- Mostly listened to Indian Instrumental and Ghazals.
- Sound is very relaxed. The highlight of the sound. "Relaxed" sound
- the mids (vocals) are rendered very faithfully
- Just a hint of highs and lows. Not too emphasized but just about there. As if just enough to be captured by the recording mike. This actually helps in the long listening sessions. The music just flows freely and a very light feel to it.
- The headphones just beg to be picked up and listened to while doing other chores. They are very un-intrusive and give a very relaxed and laid back yet detailed presentation.
- Max listening volume: 8 O Clock position Though they sounded best and relaxing at that volume.
This is first time I have listened to a head phone amp.
I am really appreciating the flat sound now which is so true and "relaxing".
Nice pair of cans for these genres of music!
