SONY EX 720 / Panasonic D25B / Panasonic V20 /Samsung 6 series /LG?

@kk: IMHO, as per the dimensions of your room, size 40'-42' would be the best suited size for you.

If you wanna go the plasma way, Pana 42V20D should be the best bet. This is one of the best plasma TV in terms of colour reproduction and black levels:clapping:. This TV should be available to you for around Rs. 64k. But, I have heard that plasmas usually lose their black levels after a use of about two-three years. Was it a problem with the old generation plasma or the current generation plasmas also sufffer from this? HiFi experts please correct me on this if I am wrong and please don't initiate the plasma vs LCD war again.

Talking about SONY 40EX720, this is a skype ready, 3D enabled FHD LCD with edge lit LED. A lot of good words are being said in praise of this TV. But, 80k (the price @ this TV is available) for a 40 incher just for the 3D feature, I am not game for it. But, then its SONY (No pun intended).

I am sorry that I have no idea about Pana D25B:sad:.

Talking about LG, 42LE8500 is an excellent TV. This is a full LED-LCD with local dimming. The best thing about this TV is that the panel is THX certified:licklips:. It is a non 3D TV but handles the 2D content beautifully. It has some great black levels. Being an IPS panel it has better viewing angles and accurate colour reproduction. This TV would cost you around 70k.

Coming to Samsung, I am a great admirer of Samsung. Personally, I am looking forward to buy Samsung 46C650L1R:yahoo:. This is a series 6 LCD (neither edge lit nor full LED) that packs a great punch. The other day, I had gone to demo 40C550 but happened to see this monster. I liked every bit of this and started dreaming of having this beauty at my house. On coming back to my house, I searched the internet for reviews of this TV and surprise-surprise this TV outshines some of the LEDs in terms of colour reproduction, black levels etc. One review that I came across even ranked it higher than LG LE8500 in terms of black level. This TV is a 100 Hz TV so, watching fast motion sports should not be a problem on this one. The response time of this TV is 4ms (gtg) which is not among the best and is certainly not ideal for gamers as they can experience input lag but should not be a problem for me as I am not an avid gamer. This TV is available for Rs. 67k here in Delhi. The only thing that is putting me into a dilemma against buying this TV is the panel lottery policy adopted by Samsung:confused:. One should not expect such an illicit, immoral and iniquitous practice from a global electronics giant:mad:. At least they can disclose the fact that a particular series comes in panels of type X and the other series comes in type Y. But they will not do this. SONY in this area is quite clean and has a great reputation.

Anyways, all the best for your search.

Samsung series 6 LED is now available at 65k. I found better than EX720 of Sony.

Thanks! Vikrant and Shyam.

I visit today several shops today and observed a lot about LED/LCD/Plasma Tv's.
1. No one ready to show with normal channel in LED Tv's except Panasonic and Samsung show room.
2. Found blur all LED tv's (Samsung, Panasonic and LG). Asked to change News channel like CNBC, NDTV, TimesNow. But, it may to view 2 mins only then changed to HD channels immediately. Because of it tells truth about brand.
3. Times Now channel have lost to view in LED or may not good HDMI splitter in Samsung and Croma showroom.
4. 40" Price for Sony EX720 - 74K, Panasonic D25b - 79K, Samsung C5000 - 65K.
5. 42" Plasma Panasonic - V20 for 60K and looks awesome compared above brands.
6. Till am in research for EX720 because to view normal channel with any DTH service.
7. Persons who works in showroom doen't have knowledge for LED or LCD or Plasma. Who gives more commission for TV's or selling particular brand to customer.
8. Most of them against Sony and Panasonic except their authorized showroom and croma.
9. Panel level Samsung very week. If you touch panel it flicker compared Sony.
10. Panasonic D25 very attractive but pricy because of fully imported, Samsung and LG assembled in India, Sony from Malaysia.
11. Samsung will launched D series and will available next week from showroom and price as same as C series. They called as SMART Tv.

At last want to see EX720 then finalize final one. But till have 2 and 3 position for Panasonic D25 and V20. Because of true skin tone found today and makes happier me..

Dudes.... Please advise me if anything missing for this research... because 50-70K is not small amount.

Just one thing to add, you may want to wait for newer 2011 models of all brands to be launched in India. Which might either lead to a reduction of prices of existing models or if you find the newer ones better you could go for them.
Also if if you have not read there is a detailed review of Sony EX 720 here Sony EX720 review - FlatpanelsHD.

Thanks! Vikash
I heard Samsung only releasing new models, Can you provide Sony/Panasonic 2011 brand details.

D5000 is now available at 56-57k price range. (check huddlendeal.com) . C6200 is a superior set and I saw that its panel is not of CN version.
I use c5000 and SD content is not bad, but plasma should be definitely better than LED.

If you are ok with Plasma, panasonic V20 was the most talked about set in this forum.

I think Sony already released 2011 models (EX series) correct me if wrong.....
They haven't launched the NX720, HX820,HX925.
All these models have Gorilla Glass with better anti glare coatings and local dimming .HX series has a higher spec motionflow and image processing.

INFO about EX720:

I went another SONY showroom in Chennai and analyzed EX720 model.
It looks good and picture very smooth compared Samsung and LG. Price offered 54K with AirtelHD.

So, will be finalize Sony EX720 or Panasonic D25 or Panasonic V20. Because all are same cost wise but feature different than other.

Any Idea?????????

No they are not at all same. Which screen size you are planning to buy, because V20 is only available at 42inch and EX720 will cost you more than 54K in 40 inch. Please clarify. V20 is a better option if you want (a) lower start up cost and (b) better picture

EX720 and D25 are no match in terms of picture quality to V20, it is as simple as that.

Yes! Rajapraven,
But i can buy 32" only because of room size.

@Adder - Will check in Chennai

Finally decided to buy EX720 either 32" or 40" (Need to measure once again in my new home Hall).

I have more interest to buy Panasonc V20 but main factor of power consumption things lot.. in our home nearly using 10 hours a day, so per day min of 3 units.Iit will come around 250 units for 2 months once. Also, without stabilizer it may fault easily because of low voltage there in Chennai...

Also, most important to save environments.. at least contribute to save POWER.....

Comments are welcome!!!!!!!!!!!

^have you calculated the incremental cost of going for a Panny?
And besides, if you care so much for the environment, why are you watching TV anyway? Don't consume power at all.. that will be the best for the environment.

I compared the Samsung & LG 2011 models and found the LG's new series great... specially the 42LW6500 is an awesome piece... it converts all channels from 2D to 3D and has flicker free glasses and the contrast ratio of 9000000:1. the smart Tv capability with full internet and apps and wifi connectivity along with the sensor remote are the features to look out for... Samsung or Sony or Panasonic doesnt have such a lot of features in built.
The only negative about the LG model is that it is not 1080p technically as they call it as 540p in each eye totalling to 1080p... not sure how much difference would it make to a layman...

Ha..ha..:lol::clapping:
Thats great... Not only environment, big size too...

I still better on Panasonic V20 only but Size is big matter for me.. Mother saw in how room and she liked more than me but current house not suitable to use.

Can say missed better product......
