Which Plasma? Panasonic ST30 or Samsung E550? - A final Call.

Hi Everyone,
It seems Panasonic is very slow on bringing their 2012. Firm information about new 2012 models is not available with any dealer so I have decided to give up this option.

Now I must finalize my TV between two or three plasma models. (Now firm on plasma technology)

I have following models in my list, please help me to choose between them.

1) Samsung 51E550 (For bigger size, Smartness, 2012 model, Built in wi-fi,, Cheap 3d glasses at ebay us)

2) Panasonic 42ST30 ( For Picture quality, better durability than Samsung 51E550, read two cases of dead plasma on forum with 100% refund from Samsung)

3) 42GT30. (Any other, suggested by you)

My budget less than 70K tolerance 5k max.

Any suggestions? Which one is better considering above scenario (Budget :sad

Hi i just had a talk with the Panasonic guy and i asked him if he can send the tv to pune but he said its not in stock. Only XT50 and GT50 are available as if now. He said UT50 & ST50 will be coming next week so please wait. Why dont you consider LED tv? Why not buy it from grey market? You can get Sony HX750 46inch for around 70k. You can even get a good price on Sony EX520 & EX720. As per your options Samsung makes more sense but why cant you wait? We dont buy tvs everyday.

First of all, congrats on choosing plasma technology. Neat choice and way better than LEDs! Panasonic would be the preferred choice. Picture quality is amazing (in my view) as compared to any other brand. Also, it plays most of the USB formats.

At 70K , going for a 42 inch doesnt seem worth the money for me ! Check what the 47 inch LG LEDs cost and if they fit in this range

Panasonic shop is near my house so i can help you in that. He said new models will come after the old stock is cleared. You can also check XT50. If you want Sony LED i can arrange you that also with no problem.

Don't buy anything less than 50", after using 50" plasma in my small room for a couple of years now i feel 50" is starting to look smaller.

between the E550 and ST30 you cant go wrong with both, while Panasonic will offer you slightly better blacks and Samsung will offer slightly better details and pic processing.

This should give you a fair idea on what to expect.

I would consider it as a better option, because i don't mind loosing a bit of black levels for other important aspects in pic quality and convenience. Over all its just a personal preference of what one wants and what is their main expectation from the TV they want to buy.

I completely agree mate, have had the VT50 for almost a year now... seems so small now........i am gonna get a minimum 65" next year if not a 70" sharp ... dont want to get into the projector game as of now...rented house....
