Which Plasma? Panasonic ST30 or Samsung E550? - A final Call.

I was quoted 106000 for 50ST50 and 320000 for 65ST50. Can someone check for the prices available. I wanted a 55 or 60 inch one which are not releasing in India. The 65 inches though beautiful is only 2500 dollars in the US which ever at today's exorbitant conversion rates comes to 140000. I would be happy if the rate would have been below 1.5 lacs.

I was quoted 106000 for 50ST50 and 320000 for 65ST50.

3.2 lakhs for a 65" ST50 then how much does a similar size GT50 and VT50 are going to cost? that price is insanely high and if Panasonic makes this mistake they will fail in terms of sale.

The street price of 65" of VT30 after bargain is around 3 lakhs or less and i thought that was high.

The newer ST50 is believed to be better than the yesteryears VT30. Since I contacted the dealer on phone maybe he might have misread the 65 ST50 for VT50. Will call him up again tomorrow if I get the ST50 for 2L will buy it! Let's hope so.

They recently had a tv shoot out to determine the BEST tv for 2012. They had the best tv's from all brands and they were pitted against each other. The results might surprise you. This was posted by a fellow member on another thread but unable to find the link to that. So here goes: ValueElectronics - Plasma/LCD/LED TVs, Audio Systems and Custom A/V Install
Dr Larry Weber, a very senior and highly respected expert in the field of television along with some other tv experts were a part of the grand shoot out.

Yes, I am also finalizing same thing. I am getting it for 74k round.

Today I visited a local TV shop and surprised with the offer of 70K for 51E550 and 90K for LED 46ES6800.

Guys what do you think ...does extra 20k worth just for LED with same + few extra features like Dual Core, PVR (Personal Video Recorder) Ready, Time Shift Ready, AllShare Play?

I finally ordered Samsung 51E550. Delivery is in on Tuesday.

I won't get time to play (tweaking) with set during the week days so I will give proper feedback only after Friday night.

My living room is like a open to sky thing so I know I am going to get poor brightness but I will be covering open walls (current situation is French door with standard curtains on both adjacent walls) with blackout curtains or dark film coating on glasses.

I chose E550 for Plasma technology and my budget which dodged me from buying a respected brands like Panasonic and Sharp.

Let us see if it is a mistake, compromise or good choice for value for money.

Finger crossed !!!

The Panasonic brand shop on Dickensen Road quoted Rs. 1.28 lac for the 50GT50D. It is a TV I was looking forward to own very soon but this price is a let down after you know that someone in Trivandrum had bought it for 1.15lac.

I was not too impressed by their quality of service too. They had the tv in stock and not on display and they did not seem very keen on doing business. The usual, "I am the boss attitude. Deal with whatever best price we offer or take a hike". This put me off and I walked out of the showroom. Guess it is now going to be the Samsung PS51E550D1R

Panasonic is a good company. It is our typical Indian mentality which gets attached to these corporates (By the means of dealers and service providers ). If at all you have a good budget then please do not buy something which in inferior. I am buying Samsung just because my budget is not allowing me to buy Panasonic 2012 models or Sharp Quatron range.

Thanks edges. No I have not ordered extended warranty yet. I will check immediately on Samsung's website. If I can, then I must order it also.

Thanks a lot for reminding about it. Secondly, is stabilizer essential? or any other better option like good surge protector or other device or component?
