Since I listen to this genre only, request the knowledgeable folks here to suggest good speakers to listen to this particular genre of music, based on which I will audition them. No surround sound/HT/Etc... speakers please.... just plain old fashioned floor/book shelf speakers....

Whats your budget and what artistes you listen to? Whar are the other components in your system?
Do you preferencen for floor standers vs. bookshelves?

helium
Amp: Lyrita SET 2A3
Speakers: Vintage B&W DM4
Source: LG DVD + Beresford DAC
Cables: Lyrita's I.C & cables

A great option advised by brother Helium here.
Absolutely THE speaker you need. The woofer is so sensitive that you may need to reinforce the walls with the kind of genre you play.

We in Delhi have heard the baby well, loud n clear.
At the same time its a brute force with a 10inch bass driver, this thing is made to get the floor rumbling BUT BUT BUT ..gives you 'crystal' sound. You may be able to hear the breath of the singers sometimes!.

In front of the Amity speaker ..my Dali Ikon6 with a double drivers of 6inches sound like shit! and the price is as much that i can fit in a decent bookshelf speaker in that much!

You must give a very serious look & ears to Amitys before you decide.
Its certainly on my list of immediate purchases.

Some of the speakers that I've heard do very well with rock and metal are Monitor Audio and PSB. Do check them out...

how much are the amitys?

Without answering these questions, its more like shooting arrows in the dark. A good speaker should be able to do justice to any type of music being played imo.

Helium and Sidharth, are you guys sure? The OP is asking for speakers for Hard Rock.

Cheers

Could u substantiate your concern Venkat sir. I spoke from the two sessions we had heard of.

Are you concerned about the fostex and the bass driver w.r.t. transients, signal handling & seggregation?

@ Denom
As already asked, can u pls advise ur budget and preference if you want a big n tall speaker (tower) or the bookshelf speaker?

Wow, thanks to all for your quick replies....

@ Sid
Well, floor standers for sure but then budget as of now would be limited to 25 k max....
What do the amity's cost??? Checked out the lyrita audio site but no sign of amity's there...
And they would be paired to either a Norge 1000 or 2060.....

Any other head bangers out here???

@ Denom
I blv Amitys are around 57.5k. Just got it checked with Lyrita's Mr. Viren for you.

In the prescribed budget you can look at Wharfedale's range.

Yeah Lyrita going out of the window.... as for wharfedale, heard that they arn't for playing hard rock/metal..... what other choices folks???

@ Cranky,

Which used speakers do you suggest??? How do i go about the DIY route??? Anyone heard of those DIY speakers sold by some company in bangalore, forget the name Corrsen or somthing like that....

What about Torwin speakers??? Anyone heard them/own them???

How about Sony SS-MF515 / JPW ML910 / Pure Acoustics Noble-F ???

Well you need to listen/ take advice from people who have heard them in extending listening.:o

Edit: Those Cerwins sound horrible - I heard them a few days ago and they have no detail at the top, bottom or middle - muddy throughout, the only thing they can do is play loud. And sound terrible doing it. And they are 3x the budget.

Agreed. Personally I will never bother for an other listen. But yes, that's how I heard them belting out Enter Sandman. Boy, they were really loud! If OP is interested in used route, he can find them in his budget I suppose.

@ Helium Flight

Thats precisely why I am asking the knowledgeable folks here to help me out, you included buddy!!! Any particular speaker selection from you?

No point considering Cervin Wega, they are pricey for your budget.

And have you auditioned wharfedales? If not then, pls dont say that you have heard someone saying they arent worth. Give them a try ..money is never enuf to get the best, theres always a new benchmark.

I only suggest what i have heard, u should take your music along and go out to audition these brands being suggested in here or by others. Your ears should finally take this call Denom.

Wharfedale Linton Heritage Speakers in Walnut finish at a Special Offer Price. BUY now before the price increase.
