I am noticing it since 8th of this month. Have they improved their relay content quality? Or is it just some software/firmware update on my Sony 65" 9300D that might have happened without my knowledge?
Why is Netflix all of a sudden OLED level in PQ?

The streaming data consumption for 4K titles has been varying from 11.25 Mbps to 15.25 Mbps, I haven't noticed it going up recently. If at all with the same compression, they have improvised something ... it would be worth finding out.

Apparantly, I have a recharge date on 8th each month. I usually use the Rs. 799 plan and from the last top up, the content seems like crystal clear more than ever. Their streaming quality may have improved. 15.25 Mbps/2160 it says. But it is way more clearer than it was before.

Were you connected to bluetooth audio by any chance? Apparently Netflix streams at max 1080p when you connect to bluetooth audio sources. Maybe this could be the case ? I haven't noticed any difference in PQ tbh, and I use Netflix almost daily (I have the UHD subscription as well)
yes i have noticed this. When i connect the mi tv box to bluetooth headphones netflix is restricted to 1080p. I though it was a problem with the mi tv box
Why would capacity of audio bitrate after processing/transcoding into BT codec impact ingest rate of network stream? Doesn’t make sense. Unless client Netflix app is signalling back to server it’s ability to computationally process the stream. That means BT with AptXHD or LDAC at 990kbps would show better streaming bitrate and IQ hypothetically.
No idea. All i know is 4k uhd and HDR logo next to the movies goes missing when i connect BT
How do you check that its 15.25 Mpbs?

There is an 'i' button in the Sony remote that gives that info.
What is OLED level pq?
Are you suggesting netflix gives OLED like PQ in non oled tvs suddenly?
It means your observation is wrong.
When there is a visible improvement in PQ by netflix or anything else, it is common improvement to both OLED and non OLED tvs and OLED tvs tend to render better.
As far as iam aware, netflix doesnt do a TV based content allocation except for sony masters and OLEDs which they sell as 'made for Netflix'. That too is only small tweaking here and there.

The clarity is much better since 8 th of March. Amazon prime has not changed much.

Thanks for your kind words and support. I just am amazed that Blasto who had worded in another thread that LG CX after a few days degrades to an LED quality seems to pick on my OLED reference in this thread. And yes huge difference since the last 10 days. There is less of blooming, I can spot freckles in the skin of characters and pores in their skin in close up scenes. I haven't observed Edge lit TVs to be so clear - almost emissive in quality.

Wait, what? How does that have to do with Netflix. Blooming is due to hardware and no update from Netflix can solve it. If the scene has white on black, it will have blooming on an LCD with local dimming. There's no way around that.
There is absolutely no difference in sharpness between edge-lit and other TVs. The difference in PQ are mainly towards contrast, colours and brightness. If you're seeing higher detail than before, that means you weren't able to access 4k stream which you are able to now.
Most likely you had something wrong with your setup(HDCP 2.2 for example) until recently or your broadband speed got updated, which enabled you to get 4k stream with maximum bitrate. Netflix has had no such change recently. In fact, they degraded the bitrate after the lockdown started. Either that or someone changed some picture settings on your TV which led to improvements you're noticing now.
Further improvements to Netflix can only come with the move to AV1 codec which will improve encoding efficiency and allow higher quality with same bitrates, but those will require new TVs with hardware acceleration for it.

Ok bottom line is I am happy about the PQ of the stream. Disney hotstar also is better than before. Maybe the bandwidth has improved.

Limitations of the chip - Maybe a common Wireless IC/ chip for WiFi & BT so, when it does both, it sacrifices.
It is not a troll. It is meant to be informative. People should not buy random tvs thinking netflix anyways gives OLED level PQ in all tvs now.
