Recently I saw new samsung model eh 5000 and I compared it with panasonic led's and lcd's. Interstingly I found out the samsung led doesnt have the pq to beat any of the pana models. Honestly thats what I think. I want some expert opinion on this. So guys pls help.

depends again what type of panel and what proprietary technology is used by each company.

led's itself is a technology in lcd that is used for backlight instead for ccfl and hence produces sharper pictures and gives more colour reproduction.

No just because its a LED doesn't mean it has a PQ advantage.
Even if you look at Sony EX410 its a base model which has a OEM LG IPS LED-LCD panel, while it does have the viewing angle edge compared to other Sony lcds/LED,it still on the whole looses out in PQ with inferior contrast and also has a inferior image processing.

Now leaving that aside the above the settings of a tv alone can make a tvs performance go from average to excellent, you also have to make sure the tvs is connected to a HDMI switcher ,since some showrooms users one tvs monitor out to other tvs input which results in loss in PQ.

I have not compared Samsung LED with Panasonic LCD or LEDs but I don't think Samsung's picture quality is that bad.

Few days back I went to Vijay Sales and played AVI, WMV, MKV from USB on Sansung D5500 and Sony EX520.
I found Samsung's quality and brightness was better than Sony's.

But generally, it is known, Samsung is better for LEDs and Panasonic for Plasmas. I think some hardcore TV enthusiast may tell us about it.

And bye the way, just see the demo of Panasonic plasmas and tell us what do you think. I have postponed my purchase of Samsung LED to check picture quality of Panasonic's new 2012 models. If I like Panasonic Plasma and my budget permits then I may go for Panasonic.

PS: Sony does not play MKV files at all on 40EX520.

So much generalization........

LED is a backlight
LCD is the panel

There are led lcd's and cfl lcd's

There are single colour led's and rgb led's

Single colour led's normally have led's on just two sides while rgb led's have full led backlight and these tv's are usually much more expensive.

The same lcd can be used in led or cfl backlight so I dont know what the OP is even talking about.
