Hi all,
OK!! I opened up the Xtreamer and tested it yesterday night.
As most members here have noted, it played all video files - HD and SD
It played FLAC also, but some FLAC files - it did not play
PQ was very good; SQ was also good but presently I am using only analog stereo out as I am yet to get the optical cable.
Today morning I connected the wireless antenna. I could connect to Internet and saw only the weather. Did not try others
I tried using UPNP and could play one *.MP4 file on the wireless (about 1.2 GB file). It played smoothly without problems. I am using Wireless-G router, and wireless in Xtreamer it is setup as 'infrastructure mode'. It is not playing *.MKV on the same setup (I tried two files, both above 2GB, both MKV files. I will need to try out some other MP4 files also and see. Surprisingly even MP3 is also not playing in this setup. Any idea what could be wrong? I am still to get a clear idea on this.
I have not tried yet the NET option, which I think must be accessing files directly from the PC as a network drive (???). Can you please give some advice on how to play over the network? How is your setup? What is the best of playing files on PC over Xtreamer? What is your opinion?
Also, how do you use the DVD option? Is this locally connected DVD drive on USB or is it the DVD drive on the PC? Have you tried playing DVD from PC over the network on Xtreamer?
Please help
Thanks
Churfsan
Well here is a list of things i have tried that are working -
To play over the network from your dvd drive in your pc -
Enable sharing of the dvd rom drive on your pc, and you will be able to access the same through xtreamer. I was able to play avi and mkv files through dvd drive in my pc.
To play over the network from your pc -
Share the folder you have your files in. Ensure the pc and xtreamer are connected to same router . once ur connected through lan or wireless, u can put your username / password for ur pc and connect to the pc, and it will show the shared folder, then u can save the folder and your shortcuts, next time whenever u need to play, u can just go to my shortcuts and it will open the mapped drive and then the folder and you should be able to play the files off it.
When using wireless ensure that you enable the G mode, keeping the router in mixed mode causes issues, so set it to G mode and use it on the same the performance should improve.
Personally when i had got the unit i played files on wireless for first week, then i bought a switch and have a permanent connection through lan to my router and desktop. My desktop is usually on 24x7 as i am downloading stuff, so i am able to connect and access and play files of it.
Wireless works without any issues, lan makes the task more simple and easy.
Whatever option u can go for is upto you to choose.
Also for wireless i am using my linksys wrt54g router and i am using it in G mode, with dd wrt firmware and it is working great.
