Venkat Sir,

I like this part very much! Okay, regarding meet, I suggest that emphasis is given to video this time. As of now, we have all kind of sources for video available, rips, DVDs, HD DVD, blu-rays and we have BD players, media players, bla blah.

Also, product-wise, let us review a product under a particular category and declare that a "winner and highly recommended product by Hifivision/Chennai" or something like that.

Since we have seen (or auditioned) Tube amplifiers and other high-end stuff on our 2nd meet I personally prefer Stereo amps, DTS amps and HDMI amps and other video and audio sources this time with full 5.1 setup and multi driver floor standers.

We auditioned but we didnt do an indepth review. Not many of us have listened to detailed audtion of tube vs solid state. Which is the current purpose.


I am assuming you mean 5/7 channel amp when you refer to DTS/HDMI amp basically home theater amps. DTS is just a sound stream and HDMI is a connector present in an amp/receiver.

As of now all the sugested dates seem OK for me to attend .

I can bring my SPL meter to match component output levels.

If I am not able to attend due unforseen circumstances I can send the SPL meter to Bala or Venkat.

I think the time is too short for organising the meet at any of the said dates.

I feel we should first finalise what all to do and go about organising to get the requisite eqpt & infrastructure.

Then we can decide on the date with about 10 days notice.

Though I can't attend this in person, I would be very interested to see a comparison between a high end CDP / DVDP and a mass market CDP + DAC. Can you guys please consider this for the meet?

A new viral infection has been reported, and commonly found in those who frequent a website India's Audio Video Home Theatre and Hi-Fi Discussion Forum. It's called Hifiyopia!! The symptoms are

1. Compulsive use of acronyms like CDP, DVDP, DAC etc
2. Start daydreaming about stereo and/or ht systems when hearing words like "bright", "laid-back", "harsh" in a perfectly normal conversation (not involving audio / video)
3. Have to login to Hifivision at least twice a day!


Btw interesting name you got there. Till recently I thought some part of your hifivision name is derived from your actual name. Only now I realize that its an alternate take on "Thadi Gina Thom" (right?)!
