Right now I am listening to ...

I don't think there are many who have not heard the following two classics in one form or the other.

On one of the very rare occassions that I oblige my dear wife and go to a sunday mass, I make it a point to impress upon the choir master to play the latter after the service is over. It does indeed manage to wake me up and get me all ready for breakfast.

YouTube - Beethoven's 5th Symphony

YouTube - BEETHOVEN.ODE TO JOY

Beethoven's ode to joy is the finale to the 9th symphony. It is also the anthem song for European culture/civilisation as a whole. In terms of human achievement it's right there at the summit.
Men like Beethoven,Bach,Mozart (or Newton,Einstein,Darwin,Neitzsche)
inhabit that eternal summit.
Popular musicians with their life span of 10-100 years live and create in the shadow of that eternal summit.
EMI,I believe holds the rights to the Beatles catalogue till 2076.Will people still be listening to the Beatles in 2076?I wonder.
Ode to Joy was written in 1785 by the German poet Friedrich Schiller to celebrate the idea of brotherhood of all mankind.Beethoven included it in his 9th Symphony in 1824.

since we share a very similar interest in music, what is your take on Def Leppard's albums after Slang (1996). Starting with On Through the Night (1980), High 'n' Dry (1981), Pyromania (1983), Hysteria (1987), Adrenalize (1992), Retro Active (1993) and Vault somewhere in between, just could not get their sound in Euphoria (1999), X (2002), Yeah! (2006) and Songs from the Sparkle Lounge (2008).

what say?

btw, hats off to

What say?

I started liking Def Leppard after I heard 'Two Steps Behind' during my college days. Said that, I'm not very keen on their lyrics though, but their music on the whole is great, a very good rock group, that is. 'When Love & Hate Collide ' is another favorite of mine.
