Right now I am listening to ...

Picked this up earlier today...

So far I've heard the first five songs and I haven't exactly been won over.
At best, Melody Gardot sounds like Norah Jones light.
They both approach jazz from slightly different angles.
Her songs are slightly better written though (they're "fuller" than the ones written by Jones on her first album), but so far stick to relationships.

So far, better than the likes of Kesha, Hannah Montana, Lady Gaga, and Justin (what's his name again?), Taylor Swift but those "artists" have actually lowered the entry level for the likes of Ms. Gardot - only in that context, can I place the quote from The Times.

I'll report back on this thread in greater detail after a couple of listens, but that's my first impression.

JOHN DENVER- "Annie's Song"

You fill up my senses
like a night in the forest
like the mountains in springtime,
like a walk in the rain
like a storm in the desert,
like a sleepy blue ocean
you fill up my senses,
come fill me again.

Come let me love you,
let me give my life to you
let me drown in your laughter,
let me die in your arms
let me lay down beside you,
let me always be with you
come let me love you,
come love me again.

You fill up my senses
like a night in the forest
like the mountains in springtime,
like a walk in the rain
like a storm in the desert,
like a sleepy blue ocean
you fill up my senses,
come fill me again.

Blue Oyster Cult: Don't Fear The Reaper

All our times have come
Here, but now there, gone
Seasons don't fear the reaper
Nor do the wind, the sun or the rain
(We can be like they are)

Come on baby
(Don't fear the reaper)
Baby take my hand
(Don't fear the reaper)
We'll be able to fly
(Don't fear the reaper)
Baby I'm your man

La, la la, la la
La, la la, la la

Valentine is done
Here but now they're gone
"Romeo and Juliet
Are together in eternity"---my fav part of da lyric!!!!!!!!!!!
(Romeo and Juliet)

40,000 men and women every day
(Like Romeo and Juliet)
40,000 men and women every day
(Redefine happiness)
Another 40,000 coming every day
(We can be like they are)

Come on baby
(Don't fear the reaper)
Baby take my hand
(Don't fear the reaper)
We'll be able to fly
(Don't fear the reaper)
Baby I'm your man

La, la la, la la
La, la la, la la

Love of two is one
Here but now they're gone

Came the last night of sadness
And it was clear she couldn't go on
Then the door was open and the wind appeared
The candles blew and then disappeared
The curtains flew and then he appeared
(Saying, "Don't be afraid")

Come on baby
(And she had no fear)
And she ran to him
(Then they started to fly)
They looked backward and said goodbye
(She had become like they are)
She had taken his hand
(She had become like they are)

Come on baby
(Don't fear the reaper)
