well i thought of starting this thread thinking there are lots of facts/figures we know about LPs/EPs/TTs etc which we would like to share with fellow members...there might be some facts which may sound very common and some may be alltogether new to our ears...lets share our views..

i am sharing what i have heard from a dear friend..maynot be new to forum members..

* the last LP to be manufactured in india (before the reincarnation) was "hum hai rahi pyar ke" in '93 by weston..

cheers..

I thought it to be Dil to paagal hai in '97. AFAIK, Sacha Jhootha in 1970 was released on Polydor, breaking the monopoly of HMV in India. Probably first major album to be released on non-HMV group co.

correct Saket:

DTPH in its first release in '97 was priced @ 3500/-!! New Release is priced at 799. Acc to what I have heard, new release sounds better. Glad to have a copy of it.

Also, as a fact, Sholay was the first hindi movie whose LP was pressed in Stereo. Has some good stereo effects in the song 'Yeh Dosti', esp in the prelude music.

Thanks,
Saket

does it have the signature theme of sholay?i have an ep of it with 4 songs..

Hi,

AFAIK 'Jal Bin Machhli, Nritya Bin Bijli' came out in 1970 on Odeon label and was a stereo record. On the back cover it was written " STEREO RECORDING AT RAJKAMAL STUDIOS, BOMBAY". Hence it's not an 'electronically processed stereo' record.

Thanks,

Bhaskar

Dil hai ki manta nahi LP had songs sung by Babla Mehta and not by Kumar Sanu...Sorry if this has been earlier pointed out by fellow member...

& still I am breaking my head for this. Paid a hefty price for this 2 set LP & got songs 'Not' from the original soundtrack. My fav. from this movie, Tu pyar hai kisi aur ka was sung by Babla Mehta. Kumar Sany had sung this exponentially better. However, one relief that the title track was only Sung by Kumar Sanu & that features in the LP. This was same for some audio cassettes too.(not all)
Same with DIL movie song - o priya priya where its been sung by Udit Narayan & Suresh Wadekar.
PS: The mastering quality of DHKMN LP is average. Dil is almost bad.

Recently 5 Dushman LP was sold in ebay @ 305 USD+shipping. While Daulat Ke Dushman LP is available @300 INR for mint condition. There is another instance where Jaane Jaan and Nikamma were separate releases for same title. Jaane Jaa LP is rare to get while Nikamma is available

^Nice trivia guys,
BTW, not a rare disc or info but 'Hum kisise kam nahin' LP was one side in stereo and the other in Mono!

As a technical point I would like to tell that the best songs of the album generally used to be the first songs on the LP on either side. This was because more vinyl per revolution was available which meant better quality of sound reproduction.

Saket.
