Acer H5370BD - Impressions

The one listed in the same as the quote I have got from projectorscreens.I guess I may have to settle for this for the time being. The biggest disadvantage is the 4:3 aspect ratio.

The deal is back for Acer projector H5370BD, 720p, 3D projector at Newegg :

For an extra $200, you get the full HD projector with 3D capability. I would say go for the FHD. Outstanding deal.
Though excellent prices for both the projectors:clapping:

I am frantically asking all know contacts who can get the PJ from US but with no luck. So if all fails i might have to go with iShop . Is it safe.. I did hear complaints from some that they haven't received the items even after a month and there is no response from iShop. Did anyone order through ishop or similar sites, if yes please share your experiences.

Last year I bought a blu-ray drive, a kindle ebook reader and a pc remote control through ishop. I didn't experience any problem with them.

We should make a sticky for ACERH5370BD now... we have so many ppl...

Screens and all will be common questions and then UPS details and sharing of BDs esp the 3D ones :D

H5370(720p native) vs H6510(1080p native)
---------------------------------------------
5000/6000 4000/5000 <--- lamp life (hrs) - normal/eco
2500 3000 <--- brightness in lumens
13,000:1 10,000:1 <--- contrast ratio
39.37" 59.06" <--- minimum projection distance
27" to 300" 45" to 300" <--- diagonal image size
F/2.5-F/2.6 F/2.59-F/2.87 <--- Min-Max lens aperture

Now, which one is better for first timer?

Is 3D performance same on both? And also I read that DLP systems are good at brightness in lumena but LCDs have better color brighness.. (we can google for more info).

Decisions! Decisions!!! :annoyed:

I went for 720p for price ,also I can DL 720p videos faster due to smaller size and view without conversion.BDs looks V.good.So thats my logic.
By chance you watch DVD on 1080p pj,without good scaler,it wont be watchable with grains.

To add , choose the PJ depending on the quality of the videos you normally would see. In my case , though I might watch movies and other content in 1080p, majority of viewing will be Tata sky hd box which dishes out only 720p. So it makes sense to go for the 5370. May be after an year or two if I get more 1080p content for free then I might consider upgrading. So imagine all you can do with the extra cash you save.

Also check Amazon if you do not have anyone hand carrying from the US. At 451 USD plus free shipping, it would come out to about 600 USD delivered to your home. And complete peace of mind with Amazon wrto delivery. Think when I was shopping ishop was a couple of thou INR cheaper, but I chose to go with Amazon anyway, and have not regretted the decision.

Take the power also to consideration,

235 Watts vs 290 Watts power consumption, higher operating costs.

This may also mean that 1 KV UPS may or may not work with the 1080 PJ because of higher power consumption.

How did you get it from Amazon, when their page itself mentions - .

Currently, item can be shipped only within the U.S.

Prem, why do we need to use a 1 KVA UPS since the 800 VA can handle about 480 watts.

I have got a quote for Liberty Grandview 120"(matte white) screen from a dealer in kerala. Is Rs.15,700 a good deal?

Jidhin, the bulb will not stay put. I had asked the sales guy to come with 600, 800 and 1 KVA to test and then buy. We started with 600 and then 800 and only 1 KVA could handle. One FM had personally told me about his similar experience and asked me to go for 1 KVA but I wanted to test.

Both 600 and 800 was not able to withstand the high power used by the PJ lamp.

My friend was driving across states all day today (1 Dec). He was stuck in huge traffic.
Managed to order the H5370BD for $379 at 11:11 PM his time.

I'm part of Acer family now.. :yahoo:
Congrats and welcome to acer group.:clapping:

My friend too ordered it yday (the last day) and the projector should reach him by end of this week. :clapping::yahoo:

Thats where the good part ends. :indifferent14:

He is not sure when he will be traveling to India and right now I am not aware of anyone who are. So its going to lie down there until some good Samaritan can get it for me.

The only reason i forced him to buy was the price..

Btw this thread is the 2nd highest in terms of replies (360+) under " Home Theatre Projectors & Screens" , so its a good time to celebrate.

Since there are lots of proud owners and would be owners, we might spin off on other topics like Screens, 3D-Glasses and other useful accessories.
