All That Jazz ...

This album has just blown me away.
Mingus and his cohort of fire-breathing monsters (just check out that lineup!) seem intent on burning Carnegie Hall to the ground. Each side of this 3 lp set contains just a single track; intense jams that pull Mingus into uncharted avant garde territory. It’s the most ‘out’ I’ve ever heard him play, and it sounds glorious!
Special mention for the packaging, too. This one looks and feels as special as it sounds.

Currently sitting at a roadside cafe in Turin, sipping my espresso and smoking a cigarette as I keep a watchful eye on my Vespa parked on the side of the road…
Err… no actually…
Just got carried away with this album :)

Haha! Good stuff ... thanks for sharing!

I’ve been a Joshua Redman fan ever since I picked up Freedom in the Groove way back in ‘97. Thanks to Nikhil (I think!) posting the album RoundAgain, I decided to pick up their follow up LongGone. And it’s a blast!
These guys were the ‘Young Turks’ back in the mid 90s, but they’re all masters now. Great interplay between them and no one hogs the spotlight. Plus a wonderful live track from 2007.
