^^^so if for example I purchased the tv now shall i get the glasses now itself or should i wait for another 15 days for it to be delivered. what is the mode of delivering the glasses?

dear prankey,...which no. did u ring up & from whom did u confirm of getting a pair of free 3d glasses...my local samsung sales manager is acting ignorance or rather assertively telling me of No 3d glasses/specs free with ps 51d550,when i checked with him last!... so'm asking u,..from whom did u get the confirmation of free 3d glasses with the d550...any phone.no or links?...so that i can clarify the matter straight from the horses mouth(H.O) & therfore force my local samsung ppl to update their information!
We will know about it when the fresh stocks arrive... I believe Samsung will ship the glasses to your address when they are available.
My same contact confirmed of 1 3D glasses with the TV... He said, he can't get 2 pairs, but 1 pair will come with the TV or about 2 weeks after the purchase due to non availability...
I can say its an authentic info as I got such conflicting answers by various Samsung dealers last year when they were unable to give the 3D BR + 2 extra 3D Glasses with 46C750 and instead were offering only 1 regular BR (C5500)... I got the best price (90k) for the TV with MRP of 1.3L and DP 1.2L + the 3D offer while had an MRP of around 55k when the regular BR others were offering was just about 10K!

now,since officially samsung has stopped selling the2010 model "c"series tv/plasma,& also deleted them from their indian website.....when can we expect the better launches like 51 PSD6500(with a better antiglare screen) to be launched in india?...any news from any reliable source yet?
i went through the catalog of samsung 51d550 comparisons. it says its hdmi 1.3a not 1.4,, and doesn't support audio return channel.. can any user confirm it.. also hd ready model (series 4) supports digital broadcast. not full hd( SERIES 5)
no i checked it it is only samsung hub that has skype. this 5 series does not have it... it is lower version..

regarding 3d.. please read wiki forum u need 1.4 hdmi for 1080p 3d..
for 720p 3d 1.3 is sufficient.. play station has 1.3 only..yet can play 3d by reducing resolution to 720p....
samsung has hdmi 1.3 with auto3d selection for hdmi 1.4 input...
it means u receive and display 2d pictures in 1080p
and
3d will be received 1080p from source ( samsung has auto 3d for 1.4 input). Because of auto 3d feature the 3d BLURAY player(source) will recognize tv as full hd for 3d i.e. like 1.4 version however once signal touches samsung board, IT will be processed as 720p ( of course upscaled AGAIN by samsung to 1080p and displaced as 1080p finally)
SO 4 SERIES IS BETTER FOR 3D THAN 5 SERIES BECAUSE PS51 4 SERIES HAS TRUE HDMI 1.4. SO 3D WILL BE RECEIVED AT 1080P BUT DISPLAYED AS 720P, UNLIKE
5 SERIES WHERE 1080P=> CONVERTED AT HDMI END AS 720P, PROCESSED AGAIN AND CONVERTED AS 1080P..

my local service guy explained why rate is cheap..

I don't believe such documentation... I am sure its HDMI 1.4a despite all the documentation bugs.. Check some other models.. some LCD and LED backlit LCDs are presented as PLASMA and the lowest end Plasma 43D490 has documented REAL BLACK FILTER!!!

As I don't know much about the technical details, I may not be in a position to write a good review. What I wanted was a big and decent quality screen and I hope I got it. I have a bluray player but no discs, lots of dvd's. You guys are welcome to bring your stuff to test the tv to your satisfaction.

I think most of the people in this thread know that this TV PS51D550 is not a full fledged 3D TV. 3D is just an added advantage for this TV IMHO.
