2011 Samsung Plasma 3D PS51D550

Great !...now i see things working here & ppl/members cooperating with their camera !
Thanks a lot friend,...
seems like a beautiful tv(wiring can be redone afait),...btw,how many lights r there while u r watching the tv(as in the pic) ?
Also,as in my previous question, (which perhaps u read differently),.. did.u notice any regular & random brightness/contrast "Fluctuations"/ changes in ur tv,particularly while watching dark scenes?
*for more idea,u can read about brightness/contrast Fluctuations/ changes here >> http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=1328762

Great if u care to reply!

@isawugoing and @chem64 can you guys tell me what kind of formats will this tv play
like mkv,m2ts,avi,mov,mp4, and can this decode dts audio, true hd audio with in the mkv file format

all samsung TV's will decode most fileformats

Only limitation is they wont output DTS by optical out
they output dolbydigital though

so HD audio also, i doubt if they will output.

media compatibility is better than my pch,...plays allmost 80% of all known media formats with .flv(google videos) & real media(from mobiles) also being able to play.
It certainly does play .dts(audio) i.e can decode multichannel .dts audio to 2 channel stereo through tv speakers, however i ain't certain about multichannel .dts,.ac3 or othr hd audio formats passthrough the optical out (didn't try out)...but again,as i say it plays/decodes most of the audio formats through the 2.0 stereo tv speakers!

what ever it may support or may not support Samsung is the only company in the market which does 80% of codec support how ever as said by indiglo dts & truehd pass through is not compatible through optical out

I went to Forum mall today to take a look at the TV. It was awesome and It was playing "How to train your Dragon" in Full HD There was decent reflection from the Panel but its not very much as it was a showroom. Its super Thin for a Plasma. There was no ghosting or colored boxes that i saw in my 15 mins. The only grouse was that the Remote operation in Menu was very slow...

No, They didnt have any 3d glasses and the person told me that you would have to buy the glasses separately. The Final pricing he gave me was of 75k and didn't budged at all and said that there are no stocks anywhere else...

Yes I confirmed today, only 1 or 2 pieces are available in showrooms.. glad to know that a display unit is available at Forum.. So we could probably try meeting there, though 3D demo might be unavailable.. Strange that they do not have the 3D glasses as Devi did have it though they kept a D490 on display instead..

We have to wait for the stocks to arrive which may take another 2 weeks to get a better price probably less than 63k...

I am starting a new thread for this group buy as Samsung can ship it throughout India at a very nominal cost (less than or equal to Rs.1k).

EDIT - Lets discuss reviews and technical details on this thread and price on below:

It may not support HD Audio, however THEY DO DECODE DTS and also pass thru DTS and DD fine!!! I am speaking through my experience on last year's 46C750..

Only limitation is AAC where it only pass stereo sound from multichannel AAC... And while ARC through HDMI should be capable of passing multichannel HD and AAC decoded LPCM streams, unfortunately these TVs only support Stereo LPCM through ARC (Audio Return Channel of HDMI v1.4).

It is surprising that they did not have the 3D glasses and that we have to buy it separately....as some where in the thread, I read that Samsung provides 3D glasses along with the TV for free ! ! !....

Can someone (who has got a reliable contact) confirm this with Samsung ?

Thanks

Hi,

Did anyone get a chance to review LG 50PZ550 (plasma 3D) which is also available at around 77K(as per details from another thread ) ?
