I Think what Sony terms as "x.v color" is actually "HDTV standard xvYCC color" which is HDMI 1.3 Complaint & since the D550 is already HDMI 1.4 & backward compatible,i see No problems there for ur Sony Handicam, plz check here > Sony renames new HDTV standard xvYCC to x.v. Color/Colour -- Engadget Remember how IEEE 1394 interface got renamed to ".LINK" by Sony.I think,it is the same here too!
As far playing 3D from USB drive of ur samsung d550 plasma,in the cheapest & Quickest way,get some "Side By Side"(S.B.S) 3D,which is currently most popular easiest and effective way of presenting a movie in 3D,which r basically ripped from Original 3D BR-Discs.It's very common because,u can easily get hundred of such SbS 3d videos off the torrents & put them in ur flash/pen drives or external HDD's & plugm to ur d550's usb ports & play them fine ,with quite a impressive effeect...of course u need to have ur 3d glasses of ur 3d tv!
But for viewing real true 3d on ur tv,u have to get a external 3d video playing device, either a 3d BR player/g.c or a powerful htpc or a full 3d capable latest media player with a hdmi speed cable(1.4) attached 2 the tv, & enjoy the Real 3d experience!
Hope,this will suffice ur queries!
