Thanks to this ultimate forum and all of you friend - I have finally bough the 42X30D yesterday from Dickenson Road - Brandshop.

Very special Thanks to Abhinav, Kannan, Vikram (Freak) - for their continuous support here.... sincerely appreciate it!!!!

As a last try option, spoke to Ramesh (He is called Panasonic Ramesh, as there are 2 Ramesh's there) from DEVI International. He said the final price he could offer for 100% cash payment is 33K. Thanked him good buy.

Called Hemanth - same guy who serviced Abhinav - and confirmed the pricing once again @ 33K for card payment. He is a very nice and polite gentleman with good knowledge about what he is talking. He explained the features of the TV to my wife and bro - even showed us that running video. He took me inside and showed me 3 - 4 boxes - all brand new X30s. I was looking for obvious signs of opened boxes - None in any of them - though one of the boxes was slightly old looking. He only selected the best looking box of them and said he will send that for me.

Before paying, I also checked the step-by-step instruction for the TV usage time in the demo piece itself. It worked absolutely fine...

Mr. Matthew - the owner -a very good hearted mallu there, promised to deliver it immediately in his Innova itself. Happily paid by card - signed it at the same time Rajinikanth was signing the start of his business in Padayappa  in KTV :yahoo: (By the time we started from the shop -in the next five mins. - he was a multi billionaire and was coming out of a Benz car though .... :D )

The TV reached home right behind us. The guy came in fitted it. I requested him that, I would want to first check the usage time even before he connects the set-top box. As soon as he switched on, it asked for the initial details like country etc... so it was obvious... still checked usage hours. It showed usage time as 02 mins and start count was 1 .

We connected the set-top box (the cisco box the local cable guy gives) and the channels were pretty much clearer for that SD content itself.

Did all the initial setting given in the "settings thread started by Abhi" and started loving it from then on....:yahoo:

I am sure u'll enjoy it.

P.S. I never used to watch crazy unrealistic english movies like transformers before, but ever since this happened(plasma tv), I am watching one after the other simply to appreciate the PQ!

I'm going through a similar experience after got my HT set-up, just to enjoy the bang and blasts moving across all channels (speakers), the shaking of sofas, at the loudest sound possible (tolerable by my neighbours ). I'll have to wait for more time to get a 42" and feel 'complete'.
Try Pearl Harbour in DVD or when it is telecast on TV. Bet you will further love your new purchase!

Bought P42X30 today from Reliance DIgital for 34k. I had negotiated for 32.7k last week.

But the sales guy told me today that the prices have increased and all that crap.. After I told him that I'd rather buy elsewhere now, he bundled a 100 movies DVD pack which comes free with LG 3D TVs :) Saw the list and found some nice English movies and decent hindi movies. even at 20 bucks/movie - it was a decent deal and went for it :)

Waiting for the delivery tomorrow. The TV looks very washed out in Showroom conditions! Looks like the showroom guys dont want to sell plasmas.

Now, have to decide on a HD connection. Confused b/w Tata and Airtel!

Congrats Panny: Looks like a pretty decent deal, if you ask me.....

Welcome to the X30D club!!! :clapping:

Since you are buying from a multi brand shop, please ensure you do all preliminary checks including the usage hour test.... it is perfectly safe, if you just follow the steps exactly...

Good Luck!!!

Hi Pupupuchi: Can you please give some gyan on HTs please.....

What is the make & model you have?? How much did it cost you...
what are other best alternative you had considered??

Thanks in advance....

I somehow couldn't get a useful middle-class tread in this regards... most of the tread I saw has a budget above 20K till what not!!!!

Thanks Baala.

I did read about the panel usage check. Trust me, that's the first thing I will do tomorrow when I get my TV :)

I told the sales guy in Reliance, which almost sounded like a dhamki  that I will return the piece if I find any signs of usage and I will check the panel usage :)

Can't wait to connect my XBOX to it!! :yahoo:

Since you are mad on the amount people spend on HT here is what I have. Well now you will laugh at me. I've already spent 34k for two floor standing speakers and a multichannel amplifier (AVR), cables and other accessories. Using two speakers from my old 2.1 set-up to serve as rear channel speakers, for now. I foresee another 40k going out, in another 6-12 months. And all this for a entry level HT set-up, not even a good one.
Refer: http://www.hifivision.com/home-theater/22429-review-yamaha-rx-v371-paired-yamaha-ns-8390-a.html

Frankly speaking you will get a HT speaker package starting 12k but then again the sound would be really crap, 'COMPARATIVELY'. Home theatre in a Box (HTIB with AVR) are the next level of HT package starting 24k. These are somewhat 'good' for a small to mid sized room, for a average listener. If you focus on the sound they produce, then you will hate them.

Beyond this you can increase your budget and hit the sky

To be more straight, check out HTIBs from Onkyo/Yamaha/Denon/Energy and see if you like them (approx damage of 24 to 54k)

Hello there,
I hope u get tat big fat screen tv soon! If budget is not a concern, do consider 50" tv. And the sad thing is, a good HT costs more. I have thought of buying Sony HT for 12.5k. Wonder how it'll be.

Thanks Pupupuchi for the gyan.... I am actually not mad on people spending so much..... but mad that I am not able to .... (atleast immediately)

One quick question: will importing it from somewhere be cheaper??

I guess I will atleast start my research on HT's now.... :)

R u in hyderabad or bangalore..?
For HD .. better to go for Videocon d2h HD. Good no. of HD as well as SD channel & very economic.

Hi Chung,
Dont go to flipcart, as they have 35500/- around.. Better to go Timtara.com , if they have delivery location as yours or go to panasonic dealer or other multibranded showroom. As u can get it around 32K there ( in Timtara.com 29490 )... As well as you can get 0% EMI option as well.

Regards

'Human wants are insatiable' - Class 12, Economics, first chapter first sentence :)

Importing it...depends on what you are getting. When you cross a threashold there is customs charge. Also there will not be any gurantee on these goods, not necessarily that these goods will become defective. But give it a try and see if it makes sense to you.

Build a budget HT over a period of couple of years , starting with front speakers & AVR (min 35k) > surrounds (min 10k for a matching one) > sub (15k) > host of other accessories (kkkkkk).

See I'm slowly injecting the 'HT bug' in you

One question, if the source (actual shows of say AXN, MTV etc) is in HD why wouldn't other DTH vendors, telecast them in HD. I guess most of these are upscaled versions (or remastered) by Videocon like Dish TV which claims most number of HD channels but in reality are upscaled versions (or remastered).

I have seen only Discovery & Nat Geo have shows recorded and telecast in HD. Not sure of others.

Any observation?
