46 inch plus TV .. HX750 or HX850 or ST50

MRP as quoted on site is 123K. 115K is still a tad bit higher. 110K should be a good price. But Sony does not negotiate much. Try at Reliance Digital, eZone, Croma and other such multi-brand showrooms also.

even Reliance digital tagged TV with Rs. 1,19,900

"Negotiation" is the key word. If you say, "my way or highway" then sometimes salesmen relent. Some negotiation points:

- try not to declare budget
- if you do, never say budget is flexible
- if you go to brand showroom, don't every declare brand pereference/allegence
- salesmen know many tricks, they deal with customers day-in and day-out
- your only trump card is "you will walk away not to return"
- quote prices from internet or rival brands
- if freebee's are offered reject them and ask for cash discount instead
- show that you are serious but not wedded to any particular brand

How true.. great tips indeed

agreed.. 1.1 lacs max for 46HX850..

yesterday went to Croma.. only XT is available.. how pity.. saw 46HX850... really good.. but frankly speaking even 46HX750 was looking nice.. the PQ was good enough for DTH.. just wondering whether the 25k diff is justified for 46HX850 ... life is difficult.. ;)

One more tip on "budget". If you declare a budget, the salesman will drive you to a TV that is matching your budget. To avoid this, tell him that you don't like that for 'x' reason and you will buy the "better" model but you cannot spend more. The salesman may also propose 0% finance scheme.

In the next two days or over the weekend, I will try to visit some showrooms and have a look at HX750. I am sure that it is good enough for DTH. The HX850 may be justified for blu-ray stuff. I will post my own thoughts later.

Interesting reviews in trustedreviews

46HX750 - Sony KDL-46HX753 review - TV - Trusted Reviews ..... scores 9/10

46HX850 - Sony KDL-46HX853 review - TV - Trusted Reviews ..... scores 10/10

50ST50 - Panasonic TX-P50ST50 review - TV - Trusted Reviews..... scores 9/10

So 46HX750 is also a strong performer in the league of ST50? and we just ticked it off being just another TV ...

Did u like the pic quality of HX850..If u like it then go for it..no point in posting reviews..people know that HX850 is a superb LED tv.

kix .. that's right .. why not give due wightage to price.. ? .. that's a big factor.. u can buy a 4K tv at obscene price.. but is that justified?

Anyway, a discount of 25% to HX850 really makes this TV something highly VFM.. and as I've mentioned in my earlier post .. it is good enough in PQ.. atleast for regular DTH/ SD content

Aakashr.. he he .. they have models which are prohibitively priced... more than 2 lacs atleast (55VT50 is not released in India).. don't plan to even think of such bughet and performance.. looking for tad cheaper with 90-95% of the performance of those top of the line TVs..

Lake ... I definitely like 46HX850 ... no doubt about it.. nothing is missing in that one .. whether looks, performance or brand (being a SONY)..

Just wondering how much I will miss if I choose 46HX750, which is available at 25k lesser than 46HX850..

And considering HX750 being popular model, you can safely assume that it will be available just over half the price at Bangkok (I am planning a vacation early next year)... let's say closer to 50K.. then it looks highly affordable and at the same time not losing much on the PQ...

@aakashr

That's one seriously crappy article. The fact that the LG LM9600 is on the list is a giveaway of how "good" the article is.

@manzb

The HX750 is indeed a good set, I've seen it side by side with the HX850 multiple times and have to say for most people it's going to be a great investment :). It doesn't have as good blacks as the HX850 and the motion is also slightly inferior but color accuracy is really good and so is the 3D quality.

What you lose over the HX850 is

1. Monolithic Design
2. Gorilla Glass
3. No Opticontrast panel
4. X Reality Engine and not X Reality PRO
5. 400hz Motion flow against 800hz Motionflow (though overall motion is excellent on both, better than flagship Samsung/LG)
6. Black levels and Contrast are lower

Also I wouldn't say it's in the same league as ST50. But it's slightly superior to Samsung/LG flagships.

Still, when you see it next to the monolithic HX850, and the depth in the HX850 picture it's really hard to choose the HX750 over HX850 ;)

Difference between HX750 and HX850-
HX750 HX850
Motion flow 400 Motion Flow 800
Frame Dimming Local Dimming
X-Reality Pic Engine X-Reality Pro Pic Engine

Most significant are the last two...X-Reality Pro got another processor XCA7 (other than X-Reality) which actually boosts the pic quality from great in midrange HX,EX models to outstanding in this model.

Avmax, Lake , the article agrees to what you are saying

"The 46HX753s motion performance isnt as perfect as that of the HX853 models, it must be said."

Also it sums up nicely

"The Sony KDL-46HX753 doesnt by any means hit the same dizzy picture heights as its illustrious HX853 flagship sibling. But its still a very strong performer for its price"

Avmax .. do you think those 6 benefits are worth 25k price difference?

avmax.. it is more like going for a movie only because it has a beautiful, sexy heroine .. ha ha.. :P ;) :D .. not a bad idea...

Being customer of samsung plasmas/leds/lcds since all long. I have around 6 (incl 64" samsung plasma) of them and all Samsung.
Can you guys tell me as need to purchase 46" too for my bedroom.

a. which model of samsung is comparable to hx850 ? if not which comes closest and what are the difference technically....

b. Is it really worth spending 1.15L with bill for hx850 or should go for without bill 70K hx750 ?

Thanks a ton

For me the design alone is worth 25k extra :p

So IMO yes ;)

Hell yeah ! ;)

Too many variables here - different models and different mode (bill vs non bill), fix one first and then try and judge other.

BTW HX750 is a good TV & HX850 is a gr8 one !

Well Raghav, to be frank even Samsung flagship ES8000 doesn't come close to HX850. HX750 and ES8000 are comparable.
