never dreamt i could pull of this deal. thanx to the forum and BLASTO.

just confirmed my order for TH-P50VT20D - 3D Plasma for Rs. 80K from my local dealer. Guaranteed Sealed Piece Delivery and Free company Installation, with

2 Pairs of 3D Glasses, Logitech Key Board & Scratch Card

this was possible because... the Forum and the bargaining power of the members, without which people like me who lived in the interiors wouldnt even know that companies would sell at such discounted prices. all these years i have been happily buying with special 10% discounts of MRPs.

But now armed with concrete evidence of actual selling prices, my dealer is able to bully the distributors into matching the prices offered in the city.

actually when i went to my dealer today morning i was prepared to pay upto 90K for the TV with out any extras even, as Blasto told me the hyd dealer was unwilling to ship it out. 80K for local delivery only.

so i was prepared to pay the extra 10K instead of going through the hastle of going to hyd, buying and arranging for transportation, especially with current climate- i live in coastal andhra 550kms. from hyd.

so when i went to my dealer today morning i told him the TV was available at hyd for Rs. 80K with 2 glasses, Logitech KB & scratch card.

he contacted 2 distributors in Vijayawada the nearest supply point (120KM), but they quoted more than 100K. He asked me to wait till afternoon and he would contact another dealer who may be able to do something. i didnt tell him i was willing to pay 90K.

i told him to call me and went back to my office. after an hour or so he rang me up and told me the deal was done. i couldnt believe my ears. i immediately went to the show room and he talked to the distributor in my presence and confirmed the deal.. delivery in 2-3days. I stressed it should be a sealed piece. I didnt pay any advance or any thing. i will be paying the full amount only after satisfactory installation and demo.

ofcourse, the fact that I am a very senior doctor in a small town and am a regular customer of my dealer does help.

as i said at the very beginning HALLELUJAH AND MANY THANX TO THE FORUM ITS MEMBERS AND ESPECIALLY BLASTO. .....

I think the Panasonic brand shop at crawford market has stock. quoted 1.06l on the phone for the vt20 and 85k for the v20. Dont think he'll bargain much

Croma have the VT20 price as 79900 in their system but no stock anywhere in Maharashtra

Kohinoor at Lamington Road have a couple of sealed V20's. Quoted 82k.

Same price I have got.. So anywhere in Croma Andrapradesh, this is the price I suppose. And stocks are available till today.

For Mumbai/Pune here are some options:
There are 2 chains of Panasonic brand shops in Pune.
1. One of the brand shop chain salesman I talked to yesterday was in a exhibition and said 2 pieces of 50vt20 were sold for 1.5L each. He has 18 more. Price quoted to me is 1L. I asked him price for 2 (me and illusion_heart) and he said he will get back to me but he hasnt yet. He said he could deliver to Mumbai. If numbers are more I can negotiate more. Delivery will be immediate as stock is lying with him since Sept.
2. I am in touch with owner of another brand shop chain (4 shops in total in Pune). He has promised a price of 77K but probably does not have stock but is trying to get it. Latest info is he will get it tomorrow (Saturday) but I am hearing this for 4-5 days now. He too can deliver in Mumbai.
3. On another thread here I read that Croma mumbai has picked up stocks. So request Mumbai guys to keep a tab on that. I too call croma tollfree and they do tell prices /stock but the issue is if the deal is like it was in hyderabad, the stock does not appear on their central system. So talking to local store managers can help get the status.

No other Pune dealers I talked with (and i talked with many) want to even talk about Panasonic. Some who do, talk about latest models only.

For any of the above options, I believe we can just drive down and get it ourselves as distance is not far; this in case the delivery option seems risky. One precaution to be taken is if we go by this route is to not to lay it down flat. I read it here (http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/forum-replies.cfm?t=1451178&p=51&#r1005). One exercise pending is to check if it can easily sit upright in rear seat of a car. BLASTO/other owners if you can check if the box fits in easily on rear seat of a car it will help us make this decision. One can find dimensions of the box in the above link.

We are already 5 guys here in Mumbai and nearby cities i.e Amol, Jai, Mistry, coolestone and myself.... lets continue hunting till we get 75 to 77k. 5 pcs is a good enough quantity to strike a deal with anyone having stocks....unfortunately for us not many do and they havent offered a good enough deal.

I took the delevery of the 42" samsung in my car only and lay it down as it was like 1km and 5 mins drive. It did not fit in my car upright. My car has foldable rear seat that lays flat and this was loaded from the rear.

No way a 50" will fit even in the above manner.

Will do it tomorrow however.. The box is empty and can be easily carried now.

It took 4 days for me to bring down croma's price from 1.1L to 1L quoting bangalore prices.
It barely took 4 minutes to bring down the price to 80k stating local dealer price of 80k. (But the dealer is genuine)

If you want to lie through your teeth, you can say the dealer that has stock that you want 5 pieces and have already found another dealer who is offering 80k and has only 3 pieces. Walk away without fail and he will call you by evening.

BTW, Panasonic brand shops are hopeless as I have seen. They have some sort of agreement not to sell below a certain threshold..

You might want to consider D550 based on that.

My experience is on all Full HD panels >46" HD looks bad. One has to sit far away 14-15ft so that the flaws are not visible. Best SD quality I found was in Samsung 51D550 and Pana 50ST30.

Actually there is no need to lie. I have already been quoted 77K in Pune but the issue is stock. I am giving him sufficient time to procure the set(s) before I go back to the other brand shop chain quoting 1L. Issue here is none other than Panasonic brand shops have any stocks of 50VT20 as of now.

The catch is that he wants to close the sales at one go. Bills will be separate for all individuals but all sales must be finalized together. Both Autopsycho & myself will be going together to make our purchases tomorrow. So we need to coordinate this asap with other members if any are interested.

Of course the PDP is available at a non negotiated price of 80K also. I will post the store details etc once our orders are placed.

I also live close to Delhi and have enquired at 3-4 showrooms, lowest price I got is 90k at Karol Bagh.
