ALL tripath2020 lovers get it at home for ~1500

But they still need HDFC bank account.

ok no credit card guys dont cry !

there is thingy called virtual credit card , HDFC online banking gives feature to create a v.credit card instantly and only load amount u like to spend.

SBI VCC is limited to purchases in Rupee only. Cannot be used for international transaction.

33. Is my Virtual Card an International Card?

No, the Virtual Card is a domestic Card and can be used for online payment in Indian Rupee (INR) in India, Nepal and Bhutan only.

International VCC can be created through entropay

I'm contemplating DIY route for a 2 way or full range BS for my PC will it suffice ? also can it drive wharf 9.1 ?
Tripath TA2020 Amps pair well with speakers that have good sensitivity and have higher impedance (8 to 6 ohms).

Known speakers that fit the description are the CA S30, and Usher S-520.

I think the Wharfedale's are moderately sensitive. The pairing should work well for near-field listening. It probably won't be able to "fill" a room with very high volumes, but should still be OK for moderate volumes.

Checkout the ongoing (impressive) thread:

whoa ... thatz all theory we have
tested with KEF Q300 (Sensitivity 87db), carnival6 FS speakers ~4 Ohm impedance the tripath 2020 drives very well ,enough for 10by 10 room

[Usher S-520 is remarkably bad speaker for the price ... FYI they are very poor in mids ,also on bass front they sell at 9Kpair in taiwan, for all newbies avoid ]

Guys, please tell me one thing. If I am using Marantz pm 6002, does it make any sense in trying T2020 amp? 3k is not very amount but still I can buy at least 7 audio CDs in that. The only purpose of trying ta2020 is trying something different. Otherwise I am happy with Marantz.

You have to try t-class amps. People don't appreciate it unless they listen. I have 3 of them running including car setup.

has anyone tried running them bridged to double the power?

+1

I am also wondering why this is still being sold at the same 20W+20W config?
Is the internal architecture restricting it to use it in bridged, hence no manufacturer tried it?

Not all amps we can use .......elcheapo and poor with poor components !
roadside amps in india and DX may give poor distorted o/p

MUSE/TOPPING/Arjen Helder(kits only) are known to have good starter audiophile quality

amp components /class/connectors etc etc are deciding factors ..

deal was 35$
come on guys people digging for even less...cheeh !

They are already bridged internally. +ve and -ve for speaker output are nothing but output of 2 amps bridged together. So voltage can not be doubled. And -ve of speaker can not be grounded too.
Please refer page 5 of this datasheet, http://electronics-diy.com/schematics/448/TA2020.pdf Loot at the output stage.

My understanding is that unlike typical amplifiers which use discrete transistors to amplify, the Tripath chip itself is doing the amplification.

As long as you are looking at different vendors using the same chip, their specs should be the same (Unless they have managed to screw-up the other stuff like capacitors, etc.)

PS, there are other Tripath chips (and hence amps) too.

Another well made tripath TA2020 = 2000Rs

German Simens EPCOS and Sweden EVOX RIFA capacitance.
1 x 3000uf ELNA + 2 x 2000uf nichicon capacitance to meet of high power bursting.
Europe RIFA PHE426 capacitance, improve sound effect.
Built-in speaker protection and power delay circuit.
Power and circuit protection indicator.

Muse 2020 tripath saga

After so much funfair it arrived yesterday.

I heard horror stories - how Custom depart drilled holes into Electrolyte capacitors of 10000uF capacity to check whats hidden inside. Friends it's received in a battered state. Thanks to our customs department. They tried to pull and twist every big component and one screw is missing. After turned on i found that right channel is missing. After opening I found that in process of pulling volume knob these guys uprooted its shank.

Finally it it took me three hours to pull that out from pcb by desoldering and reconstruction done. Thank god it worked as new and custom department did not drill holes into capacitors to check if some drug is hidden or not. God knows when they will use proper scanners etc.

Quality is so so.. I got what I paid. PCB is not that great, volume knob is not metal but metal finished plastic, output relays are not that shown in picture, all are Chinese parts. I got good aluminum case, tripath chip and good sounding amp but not upto my current class AB.

Just listened to it for 15 min. Nothing special. sounds good but room for improvement. Now giving it to FM sann for further feedback. After it returns I will upgrade output coils and input caps. I suggest another kit is better though costly.

Total landing cost 2066.66 + 418 = 2484.66, upgrade will cost another 1100 Rs (750 for caps and 360 for coils).
