I recently purchased an Oppo BD83 (used), which is modded for region free by the original owner. So far I have played Reg A and Reg C discs. I think Reg B discs also can be played.

I hope I am not missing something.

I bought Planet Earth Blu Ray few months ago and it was region-free. If it same even now, you get at least 5 out of 9 BDs, region free, if you buy separately.

But still not sure if it would attract customs or not. Read about someone getting charged for Blu'rays too.. If they do how much would it be? 25% would be about 500 - 600 bucks.. Still much cheaper than buying from India I guess

I have purchased 'Planet Earth - Special edition' and 'Life' yesterday. The confirmation mail shows that there is postage charge of 5.27 GBP and the total price is 33.54 GBP (around INR 2500). I am confused, whether the prices quoted in their website includes shipping. Then free shipping to India is only a gimmick. But at the end of the day if I get both the titles at INR 2500, I am happy. Only issue remains, whether I have to pay customs duty or not. The mail received is as given below:

How do I get the free delivery option?
The amount of 46 pounds to be billed stated 'before' VAT???
Will I have to pay any custom duty on arrival?

Just ordered few Region Free classic movies Blade Runner, 2001 and 2010. And Resident Evil 3d movie. The price was reduced further during the checkout step, than compared to the listed price. Total order 37.11.

E.g Blade Runner - Final Cut [Region Free] is listed as 9.49. But while placing order the price further came down to 7.91. India lowest price is Rs 1160. Thats cool

I am thinking of placing a pre-order for 3d movies (Clash of Titans or Legend of the Guardians). Did anyone pre-ordered for these 3D movies?

Few movies like "This is it" are marked as Region Free in the title but in the "Item Description" they are marked as "Region 2". Its confusing, so I din't order them.

Don't bother about the Description of Item. Most of the cases they display the details of the DVD even for Blu Ray Disc. Check the back cover of the BD case if they put the snap there, otherwise you can always check in Bluray.com for region info.

At my parents place we have Sony 40HX800 3D TV. Out of the 9 free Blue-ray's we received, one is "This is IT" (3D Enhanced version). I was lucky for not ordering it again

Received the Blu-rays intact :yahoo:. Custom Duty was Rs 435 (I dint mark it as Gift, will try next time)

Total cost = Rs 2,822.47 (37.11) + Rs435 = Rs 3257.47

Order placed on 21st March, Received on 30th March, just nine days (Location Bangalore).

All together a splendid deal . Could have saved (not sure) if marked as Gift. Did anyone got away with Customs by marking the order as Gift.
