Hi All,
I had a chat with George, Sudhir(sud98) and Venkat yesterday. Would like to share some developments\updates about our Bangalore Meet on 10th January:

Our concerns of space and a presentation have now been solved somewhat. George has a space in his basement (~16x15 ft) where we can accomodate around 15 to 20 people standing for a presentation by Venkat. I am happy to get my Home Theater Projector for the presentation and we can just use a white wall since we don't have a screen. George also plans to set up his Audio Rack with equipment in the basement. George will show us his DIY amps, tube-amps, Solid-State Amps and DIY speakers. Snacks as per suggestions already made - pot luck.

Let us try and improve this further by organising more chairs (hiring plastic chairs is an option). Let us split any incidental costs.

When I saw venkat sir's post about accomodation, I invited him over to my place(I live only around 7km from Rly Stn) to which he obliged. So, I have two more seats in my car going from Vijayanagar to George's place.

passing by jp nagar side or thereabouts from vijaynagar? then i'll come with you instead of by bike.

Sorry Steve, that would be huge detour for me. I have to head North-East from Vijayanagar to get to George's place. JP Nagar would be South-East from Vijayanagar. You can come over to my place on bike and we can go together.

btw its good to know some of them are put up in Vijaynagar. I stay in vijaynagar too.

I am getting my basement cleaned up for the BIG OCCASION, and hope next week to start wiring up my gear there. I expect that within a week or so all my stuff will be up and running there, and once it is, I will post a list of what I have wired up and running for auditioning, so that all those who are coming know what to expect.

Anyone wanting to bring any extra equipment will have a problem wiring it up because of practical limitations-that you will see when you come, so I suggest that other demos wait till a future meeting. Music is welcome. I may need a second CD player since I have only one-but I will revert on this before the meeting.

Since my music is mostly ripped and it is not possible to add additional music and play it immediately( it needs to be scanned and then added to the database, which can take some hours), I suggest that anyone who wants to play their music bring their CD along. The stuff in my NAS ( 250GB+ of music mostly ripped using FLAC, some using MP3 and OGG) will be available in case anyone wants to play any music that I already have.

Since we have a week to go, we can use it to tie up the other loose ends.

14 DCosta Square, 3rd Cross, Wheeler Road Extn, St Thomas Town, Bangalore -560084. It's about 1.5kms from ITC Infotech(the old cigarette factory) on Banaswadi Road. If you come down Wheeler Road Extn from the railway line, the land mark is a pastry shop called Cafe DaCosta on your right.

Take the next right and the second house on the left-it's a newly constructed white independent 2 storeyed place with two bluish Opels which will be parked in the parking area on the left.

Update:

During the process of taking out various bits and pieces today and wiring them up, I find that one of my systems tests defetcive both for amp and speaker.My Scanspeak system has a mid woofer that needs to be reconed, and my AKSA amp doesnt have a channel working. I may be able to get the amp working but the speaker system is out. Also one of my plate amps a Keiga KG 5230 seems to have a problem and if it is not rectified by the weekend then only one powered sub with dual PRs will be working.I got this one up and running this afternoon after getting the driver completely rebuilt in the US a couple of months ago and it rocks!

The systems that are working therefore will be the 2A3 9 wpc Class A driving my Fostex FRs in my living room, and an EL 34 PP driving my AriaR MTMs in my basement. These are tested and working fine. The sources are as before-a SB and an Onkyo changer, coupled to an Audiosector NOS DAC.

The position of the speakers in the basement is less than optimal and I will play around with various solutions in the next few days. The basement is 13 ft X 15 ft with an 8ft X 8ft extension at one end.

I am willing to do some BBQ both veg and non veg as well as some sandwiches if I know how many veggies are out there( the rest presumably will be non veg!)
