Budget Plasma LG 42PN4500 review

Hello Friends,

After lots of research and comparisons i bought something which was my least preference... LG PN4500... :)... Like the PQ & viewing angles... Cost was also a major factor as it came in 14 months EMI at no interest.

Bought it for 33480 with Sony headphones worth 1490 free making the effective cost of 32090/-

Delivered today and would be installed in another hour or so. Need ur guidance on ideal DTH connection with this and guidance about break-in methods. Do i really need an HD connection of SD would be gud enough. M transitioning from CRT to flat panels for first time.

You have got a great deal :)

I also bought LG42PN4500 a fortnight back - 33k from Croma, Lower Parel.

I am not too much of a TV watcher and was looking for something which doesn't burn a hole in my pocket. Basically, had to pull the trigger because the World Cup was about to begin.

I am , as of now, having a great experience with this. Football seems much more alive and engrossing :)

For the price, i think, it is a great buy !

hmm....day before yesterday after the Brazil - Netherlands match, as i was about to switch off the TV, i noticed that the panel was very hot.

I had just watched the match i.e. the TV would not have run for than 2 odd hours. I was surprised by the amount of heat that i could feel, emanating from the panel.

This is my first plasma. Can existing plasma owners/members comment on it.

Do plasmas usually get so hot in such a short viewing time?

Is there any reason for concern?

Any ideas, why the panel gets so hot? Do LEDs also get so hot.

cheers.

Plasmas get hotter than LEDs as the phosphor in plasmas get hot and they are glass panels. They draw more power and get hotter easily. Just like a CRT does. Don't worry about it, it's very very normal. My plasma ran for ~16hrs everyday, think how much heat that might've produced. I literally got a tan on :p Hahahahahaha !! Just kidding :)

If you're concerned about the heat, lower the settings a bit and you won't have that much heat. More light, more power, more heat. Less light, less power, less heat :)

Hi Fellow users,

Would you know how to enter the service menu in this TV to check usage hours? I want to check if I have been delivered a store demo model.

Thanks.

In settings there is some service button to be pressed
Will post on this thread once I reach home but mostly not before 7pm
Hope you can wait that long or maybe someone else will post

Hello all

I'm interested by this tv because i'm tired from the very average or poor black level off all lcd tv i have bought. So i have some questions about this tv:

1. average or good SD sources seem they good or are they really ugly on this tv ( pixelated ), i have see this tv on showroom but only with HD demonstration so i don't know if SD contents are acceptable or no.

2. Another important thing, is Black level really good ? is black really black on dark scene on a completely dark room or slightly grey ?

thank's

1. This TV will perform good with SD contents provided, it's calibrated properly.

2. Black level is good on this TV like all plasmas.

Thank's for the response.

are you satisfied with this tv ? is it better than the samsung 42f4500 ?

i wich own an 42st60 panasonic plasma but the price (epecialy in my town) is so execessive, is the picture quality of the st60 compared to the pn4500 can justify purchasing this tv knowing its price ( x 2,5 lg price or more).

thank's.

I don't have this TV, my friend had this one. I really liked the PQ of this TV. It can't be compared to Panasonic ST60 but for the price, it's not bad. I would suggest you to go for Samsung 51F5500 is you want to go for Samsung.

You've to decide for yourself which settings suit you best. Keep playing with settings and see.

the samsung f5500 is realy intreresting for it's full hd panel and it's picture quality and price but the tv will be set on a relatively small bed room so 51" will be too large , the max size is 42 or 43" ( too bad that there is not 42" version ).

now, i'll see the price of the panasonic to decide what tv to buy.

thank for the help

You can get LG 42PN4500 or Samsung 43H4900.

The 43F4900 is yet availaible i think, but the 2014 models are still not availaible.

is the f43f4900 better than the f4500 in PQ and SD display ?

in case i found the H4900 , is the lack of the 600 hz on the h4900 have an impact on the motion fluidity or it's the same thing that the f4900 ?

don't know what to choose between lg 42pn4500, samsung f4900 and h4900 !

I found the pic quality of 43h4900 is stunning but for Blurays one should get 1080p panel.

But does it have the "600 hz" or not ? Because I feel motion is not smooth.
