Building a dedicated HT room on the terrace

Hi Prem ,

One final question man. Which country is Panny BDP 220 GA?

Is it possible to make it region-free ? firm ware is available fr this ?

Will t his not be a problem for 230 volts here, because US has 120 volts? I am planbning to buyt one, please advice!!

Karthik, Panny 220 is the only blu-ray player I am aware of that can be made 100% region free by an update. Again, why do you have to worry this? most of the discs you get here are region free.

Vinay, If you buy it from India, the price is cheaper. Last when I checked, it was retailing for USD 199 (12,000 INR) where as it is available in India for around 9K. yOU WILL GET 220 V too.

My construction activity has reached the final stages and it is all ready to be painted. The next 10-12 days of action should make sure that this is completely done and I am ready to enjoy my new private theater.

Hi Premblr, I have never been an A/V guy and probably never will be. To be brutally honest here, can't care much for A/V equipment either, however I've been following your thread very closely, out of curiosity just to see the end result. Having one's own listening space or viewing space is well and truly a previlage these days. Honestly I felt thrilled to see your completed room. Can't wait to see the end result. Keep up the great work. Thanks.

Hi Kaushik/ Reuben, thank you for your comments. Will post the interior pics soon...

FMs,

I am torn between two colors for the rooms walls, a dark shade of gray or the red you usually find in Home theater set ups... I have an inclination towards dark gray.

What is your opinion about these color choice?

Velvet blue theme with a slight touch of yellow / gold (preferred) color is also a good choice for a theater, Grey will not give you a theater feel

Also do keep in mind about carpet colour!..
Most people first think about wall colour and at the last moment when everything is done..then think about the carpet that's going to suit the wall colour.

Neutral tones like browns and greys or combinations of those are better than reds or blues. Also, paint should be in the flattest sheen possible to reduce glare and reflection from the screen if you're using a projector.

@OP, Are you going to paint the walls or doing acoustics?

Thank you all, I am going to paint the walls in matte finish, the acoustics at the most may be perforated sheets with fabric wrap. Our FM, Mr. George was kind enough to educate me on the position of the acoustics panel using laser pointers and mirrors. I will do it as a DIY.

At last my Projector landed today, it came out without any customs issues. I couldn't contain the excitement and I went home for lunch with the PJ and set it up on a wall which is blue and has door and some other stuff.

The huge screen looks good, I have to do some settings to the PJ like turn brilliant color off etc. For now, here is the pics of the latest purchase with zero changed settings to PJ.

Congrates. I think your eyes got better picture than what your camera captured.!
It clearly shows, SIZE DOES MATTER.!

Rupam, as you can see from the title of the thread, the PJ will get a dedicated room on terrace and it has AC and a wall mounted wall.

Thanks Swamy, yes the mobile camera cannot capture what the eyes can see.
