Building a dedicated HT room on the terrace

Prem,

Welcome to the world of dedicated entertain met room.

It is very good that you like DIY instead of taking professional help.

In general there could be certain things for which the solution is not coming rightly therefore i am sure you will not draw a deadline to finish the room's work because it may create a havoc with the end result.

It is very important to get the things rightly with your planning and do take help of fellow members. However good may be your ideas, please do consider to share on the forum because who knows some of us may throw better solutions and so on while we can also learn from your ideas.

Th scree size you may be able to get more because the speakers will not obstruct the screen much unless you plan to watch movies in 4 X 3 though they are few in such formats.

V.

I am building a dedicated HT room on the terrace, right now masonary work is going on and the contractor gave me an estimate of 5-6 Weeks for the entire room.

I am a DIY kinda guy and would build the setup with advice from you guys. My room layout is 17 feet by 10 feet. If I leave half a feet each side for speakers, I will have a 9 feet screen size.
Prem

Thanks Vinay for the encouraging words... I know the challenges of DIY, but this forum has been helpful so far. I had even members sharing their personal numbers and explaining things in detail... thank you all...

Things I did over the weekend, almost auditioned all the budget HTIB and Speaker systems in two places, Reliance Digital and PRO FX.

Yamaha, Onkyo, Pioneer, Jamo and Polk. Liked the Polk demo in PRO FX.

Polk RM 6750 with Denon AVR1513 and some unknown Blueray player for 49,900.

Polk TSi 300 towers and Denon AVR1713 and unknown Blueray player for 86,900.

I liked the second option with towers, what is the opinion about this package?

Saturday worked on some wall posters, got them printed at Printo for Rs. 45 each and framed at Rs. 200. Attaching the pics. They look pretty good but my mobile pic don't do justice, if any of you want the raw files for print, do let me know.

Cool Poster. Was this framed with glass?

you can add led strips alongside the posters to look more cool..however some people hate any light during showtime...other than pj output..consider that

Can somebody comment on this...

Polk RM 6750 with Denon AVR1513 and some unknown Blueray player for 49,900.

Polk TSi 300 towers
PSW 110 Sub
CS 10 Center
Tsi 100 Surround
Denon AVR1713 and unknown Blueray player for 86,900.

To be honest, the difference is not justified. RM6750 is a really good performer for its price. Better than the recent model that it replaced (RM705). If I were you, I would rather go for it or add more budget and get better speakers than Tsi300. Like the RTis may be.

go for rti..
and imo 2113 will be better for fs..or stick to bs..add a good sub..
and in btn these 2 options 2nd is good..what is br player brand
is it emi price or cash price..
if cash..its high..by 6k..

RTI quote is 160,000... can't make up my mind. I have to convince myself strongly to even go for the Rs. 86900 package.

There is 0% interest schemes, down payment of 27K but there is a processing fee of 800 odd Rs.

rtis are very good..
you can buy centre and 2 bs only now..
later buy a very good sub and inexpensive surrounds..50k sub..12k-15k surround
with 1513 it will be like....24 rti centre+24 rti bs+26 1513=74k...get a decent blu ray player with 12k like pana 220/sony 490-8k only..leave the free one..so total is within 86k as of now..or like 15k+18k+26k..
belive me you wont regret..
in a cinema centre and sub is king..dont compromise in that..however for music use..yes towers are good..

I did some research on my own on Amazon about the setup provided by PRO FX. Each of these speakers are rated highly by Audiophiles, I am pasting their USD price, rating and number of reviewers.

The total cost of this system if you do a simple USD to INR conversion is USD 869 X 58 = INR 50402. Now there is no customs/ shipping added. And the Denon AVR at 36,000, I feel these speakers are value for money and the most original price as per their US counterpart pricing.

Polk TSi 300 towers
USD 350 5 stars 45 Reviews
Amazon.com: Customer Reviews: Polk Audio TSi300 Floorstanding Speaker (Single, Cherry)

Polk PSW 110 Sub
USD 250 4.5 stars 82 Reviews
Amazon.com: Polk Audio PSW110 10-Inch Powered Subwoofer (Single, Black): Electronics

Polk CS 10 Center
USD 119 4.5 stars 256 Reviews
Amazon.com: Polk Audio CS10 Center Channel Speaker (Single, Black): Electronics

Polk Tsi 100 Surround
USD 150 4.5 stars 64 Reviews

Plus you can own them at just a down payment of 27K if you are on a budget, you can also also enjoy the warranty. Yes even a 3D Bluray player for free...

Will audition Sonodyne and Mission speakers before I take a final call...

I will never be able to spend 50K on a sub alone, I was one of those guys who wanted a basic Onkyo, Denon or Yamaha HTIB in the 30K range, the jump from 30K to 90K itself is a giant leap for me.

Auditioned Jamo, Onkyo and Energy speakers, Energy sounded good and the dealer offered a combo with a high end Onkyo amp for 105K and 100K for Denon 1713.

Auditioned Polk again for a second time, this time with my BIL.

About the construction, the building is getting cured after the roof concrete, so this week is low activity, but will resume next week.

Brought 3D glasses and 25 feet HDMI Cable from Amazon USA.

Have you had a chance for audition KEF?

What will be your preference/ranking while audition from the bleow list?
(Vocal Clarity, Instumental separation, Surround sound field creation, more BASS, more Treble...etc)

I didn't audition KEF as I wanted towers and also didn't want the budget to cross over a Lac including the AVR. My target is a mid-level system with decent performance.

The best audition was that of JBL with Harman AVR, I don't know the model numbers, but it was a package for Rs. 1,74,000

Thanks.
I am also in the same price bucket. Polk Tsi 500 had good review. (41k pair)
