Checklist to avoid buying Demo Piece - LCD /Plasma Tv

Hi guys,

Thanks for this thread. I ended up buying the Panasonic 42ST30D for 49k along with 2 free 3D glasses of the new variety earlier in June. There was another dealer offering a ST30 at 48k, but a lot of questions revealed, he had to sell that last piece in his showroom as the 50 series plasmas had started coming in. So i avoided the latter.
The day the Tv guys came to set up the Tv in my room and give an in-room demo, I started fiddling with the service menu to check the usage hours, which I was satisfied with. Seeing this, one of the demo guys remarked, "so you know how to operate the Tv controls" and prompted to his colleague that they leave immediately.
I didnt know whether they left in such a hurry, without even giving demo, because I knew the controls or because they thought I might ask a question the two experts may not have an answer to!

Thanks HFV and fellow members for all the advice and warnings. Im happy to report, Im one happy camper.

Regards.

Will registering my tv with SONY INDIA (register your product section) help in proving my tv's genuinity (avoiding demo piece)?
It takes into account the serial number of tv, dealer's name everything?

Please avoid double posting. This creates confusion. I already replied in the other thread. The simple answer is "no".

Can someone tell me what is a normal used hours in samsumg LED tv?
Will be it 0 or a non zero value?. If its non zero, what is a value to rule out demo piece?

Well, in one of the left columns there should be written 'MRT' and a number in the column next to it which is the hours panel has run.

Thanks guys!
Recently purchased (and eventually) found out I was sent a demo Panasonic LED 47" piece clocking in an excess of 1000 hours (not a typo. 1000 indeed infact a few hundred more) from one m/s Vijay sales Lajpat. And this AFTER i paid the entire amount upfront; not to mention the other TV i bought from them earlier (god knows, if I was duped then too)

Anyway, your guidance helped me unearth which was followed by a prompt exchange from the store guys. The new piece had clocked 5 mins which am assuming is not a concern.
Is there a way however to reset the clocked hours on the service menu?

Either way, thanks guys!
