Checklist to avoid buying Demo Piece - LCD /Plasma Tv

Can anyone let me know how to check hours viewed on a Samsung LED ?

The following sequence works only for Samsung LCD's and does not work for LED.
Info -> Menu -> Mute -> Power.

Check my post #157. It's for plasma but might work for led.
 
Sorry for the long post. Sharing my experience with Samsung Plaza in T.Nagar, Chennai.


In the 7days before Diwali

I compared 46 HX850, 51E8000 & 50ST50 and decided on 51E8000 (with the TAB offer I felt this is more value for money)
Visited Reliance digital, Croma, E-zone, Vasanth & Co, Viveks, Shah's, Girias and Samsung plaza(Alwarpet). Girias offered me the best price at 83k but as with every body else (expect Samsung plaza) none of them had stock and refused to take the order.

I went to Samsung plaza in T.Nagar as it is relatively nearer than the alwarpet store. There was no display of 51E8000 but the sales person told me its available in stock. After a bit of negotiation I brought the TV at Rs.93,500/-. Paid Rs.8,700/- and the rest (Rs.84,800) was converted to 10 months 0% EMI from Future Capital.

Installation was supposed to happen today and no one called or turned till 6pm. I went to the shop directly, sales person said installation will be done by tomorrow(17th) and then given me the technician name and no. (Loganathan - 98413 36176)

I called the technician to confirm the installation time. He said he will come by 4pm.

5pm
Technician didn't turn up and not bothered to call me also. So I called him again and asked about the installation time, He causally said he will complete the installation by today.

7:30pm
As the technician didn't turn up, I called the Samsung Plaza. After 10 mins they called back and told me that he will complete the installation today without fail.

9:15pm
I called the technician and he din't answer the phone. I also sent him a SMS saying I'am waiting for installation.

10pm
As the technician didn't turn up or called, I sent a mail to samsung customer service from their website about their inefficiency.

18th Nov

I went to Samsung Plaza and told them either you complete the installation today or take your TV back and refund my money. They made few calls and talked to the same technician. This time he promised to come by 3pm for installation.

4:30pm
As the technician didn't turn up. I called Samsung Plaza and informed them.

5:30pm
Sales person from samsung plaza called me and told technician and his supervisor are not reachable on phone and assured me as first thing in morning he will send some other person for installation .

Same technician called and confirmed the location. He didn't bother to say sorry or feel apologetic for his inactions.

At last the technician came for installation

As the TV was manufactured in the month of June. I wanted to check weather its a demo piece or new one. (Thanks to fellow Hifivision members)

In front of the technician I went to the TV service menu by pressing "MUTE 7 3 7 ENTER". To my astonishment the MRT displayed was 685. I'm sure I received a used item. The technician not able to answer me properly and asked me to take up the issue with samsung plaza from where I brought the television. I also called the customer care immediately and they also wanted me to first take up the issue with seller. (Reference No. given by call center is 8427698925)

12am
In samsung plaza they are not acknowledging that's it as used set and they insist that it was directly from warehouse and they don't know what service menu is or how to access it and no one is able to answer me properly. They said they inform this to their higher authority and call me back by next day

3pm
I sent a mail to Samsung's CEO office from their website.

6pm
Samsung's CEO office sent a standard reply saying this has been forward to the concern department and they will call me soon.

Received a call from samsung (mumbai) and he enquired If i faced any technical difficulties using the TV. I told him, the TV I received is not a new one and given it's serial no. After a few minutes on hold he told me to send a mail to CEOs office from samsung website. When I told him I have already done that. He said some other person from the concerned department will call me back

11am
I called Samsung Plaza and told them to reply me back today evening or else I'll be forced to file forgery complaint against them.

1pm
Sales person called me and told that they informed this to their higher authorities and waiting for their reply and promised me to call me back by 3pm.

6pm
I called Samsung Plaza and this time store manager acknowledged the fact that the TV has been already used and blamed the people at warehouse. As he didn't have any new stocks left, he offered me a Rs.5000/- discount. I straightway told him that the discount is very less and asked him take the TV back and return my money. He agreed send a person by tomorrow to take TV back and return my initial payment. He also agreed to cancel the loan and it's EMIs.

Two persons from samsung plaza came and took the TV back and returned the initial payment via cheque (Dated 21st Nov).
 
I recently purchased LG-42LM6410 after reading this post and warning the sales person that I will not accept used piece.

1.When the TV was delivered usage==0 :yahoo:

2.TV had black spots when I used till 93 hours.Called LG. They replaced TV within a week.:eek:

2.New set with manufacturing date of 11 Nov was delivered.usage==0 :yahoo:

I have LG plasma, if remotes are similar, there is a row in remote, with four boxes, with one to four dots in different colours.
once you press QList or QView, you can see an option to press single dot to go to service menu, and when you press, you can see there usage hours, call customer support and two other options.

If your remote is different, you can call LG support 1800180999, or visit nearest showroom which has LG sets and most probably the sales guys should know how to check that.
 
hey this is not working for my JAZZ model from LG, there is no such setting option in menu
from where ur getting this??
is it from remote directly or u go to menu options and get settings ...

Both i) from remote directly and ii) through menu options land to the same page...

I don't know for JAZZ model. sorry!!!:sad:
Mine is a 2012 LED model.

If I remember correctly, JAZZ is a 2009 model. I thought that it was discontinued long ago. Is it still sold? If not, what is point of checking usage hours? Or just for knowledge?
 
ur right, i bought in 2008 and its just to check and have knowledge
not for any buying decision.....
none of the tricks reported here has worked for me in the JAZZ model
 
Go to Settings -> Support -> Product/Service Info -> Used Time :clapping:

Will this work for my LG 42LM6690 model as well. Anybody lately were able to use the above combination for LG LED TV models to check the usage hours. I am getting the delivery of the TV today. Thought of checking the usage of the TV to avoid a demo piece.
