Congrats on resolving the problem. I'm having almost same problem. When I connect my Zotac mini PC to PJ directly using HDMI, I get goo PQ but when I connect via AVR, the PQ deteriorates very badly. please explain did you have to do any setting changes in AVR to get good PQ? Where you connected your AVR for display, to LCD panel or PJ?

Hi captain, I connected pc HDMI to avr HDMI and when I selected pc on avr the picture was there but no sound. good quality, I then added an optical cable from pc to avr. I then went into control panel on pc (sound, hardware) then into HD audio manager and changed it from speakers to digital. for picture quality I changed the resolution on video card to 1920 x 1080 and extended the displays. now I just drag from pc monitor screen to the tv.

Why did you select PC in AVR when you connected PC via HDMI?
Then surely Onkyo will get video via D-sub in.

Yes I have my PC connected to my avr so that I can get sound a picture from what is on my pc. If i select PC on avr it shows what is on my pc at that moment

I have HTPC & always connect it via HDMI out on GC.I simply select the HDMI input for that & I can see all on desktop.Again we can select TV or monitor as primary display.

I Hav setup my Home theatre, connected my ps3 and my tatsky+ hd to the AVR.
But the problem is with all my movies stored in my external HDD in MKV formats connected to my pc which is connected to the AVR via HDMI to DVI cable..but no audio is coming as bcos Hdmi to DVi does not support audio i guess...
so what is the soln to my problem???
pls help

You have got an answer in other thread,DVI is only video interface & cannot carry audio.
Adding a budget graphiccard can solve the issue-
