Panasonic really made me mad today..
Thier recently printed diwali offer pamphlet pricing were very much out of sync with rest of the states of india.
VT20D for 1.1L
ST30 for 1.3 L
I cant even bargain with dealers today. Wheni told them VT20 is selling for 75K , they gave me funny look , they thought i was playing with them..
Fortunately when i went into one shop , my internet began to work and i was able to show Price thread of Vt20 from hifivision to the sales rep. they too were surprised.
Panasonic needs to post the price of each model online to stop this madness ..(like samsung)
Was really pissed with panasonic today(Pamphlet)
Mate, when i want to Croma they also showed my the new pamphlet and said that the price was 1.1l but since Amol, another forum member had picked up the TV earlier in the evening I told them to check in their systems.....salesguy disappeared for some time then came back with a printed list which had the special offer of 79,999/- voila i got my deal.........I am sure they wouldnt have reduced the price on their own......
U can try and speak to the Panansonic Regional sales guy to put an end to the confusion .......their nos are mentioned in the list of dealers of the news paper advertisement being carried out currently for Diwali offers....
Croma "New BEL Road" Branch. Their computer shows 12 more pieces and i aksed if i can refer, they said go ahead. i asked the pana mgr if i can refer more he said i would give this as a special offer you can refer more.
arnprasad,
did not chk on this 5-7%. 4670 downpayment and remaining in 17 EMI is what i did. if its available we should make it for the next purchase.
illusion_heart,
initially they offered me videocon d2h + keyboard + 1 glass. i indicated "blasto" deal and used my contact to finalise on 2 glasses for 75k. since i have TataSKy i did not opt for one more dth. wireless keyboard might accompany too.ned to wait for the box. Rest what you mentioned not sure. what was that offer btw ?
Sudhir,
when i called croma customer care on phone they said the same thing. they even mentioned that only display pieces would be available. i went to the showroom half heartedly at 8.30pm and it was a different story. They're system showed 1 available in the store and 12 in DC. not sure what DC meant. Maybe storage and its in Nelamanga as told by them. BTW have PM my number to you.
All,
FYI finance offer would also be available after diwali. but not 17free emi. it would be like 24/9 i.e pay 9 of 24 as downpayment and rest 15 as 0% emi. Also scheme would vary from TV to TV

Made up my mind at last and went for 50vt20 for 74k. Was not able to get 50st30 for less than 90k. hence thought VT20 at 74k would help me use the remaining 15k for a blue ray player.
50VT20 is available with croma. please rush in.. I just booked it 1 hr back.
Croma has 12 more pieces.. so its god news for the seekers .
Thanks "BLASTO " for the reference price. Booked it for 75k with two glasses. Croma initially resisted to give 2 glasses but later gave it away and with 17EMI and 0% finance upon insistance.
I can help you and talk to panasonic if croma is not giving for this price.. Pm me if help/contact required. Experts also please lookout for better price too. sky is the limit in india.
Enjoy. bye..
Naveen,
I can understand your situation. 2 weeks before I and others in Mumbai/Pune were in same situation where only 1 /few dealer has stock and none were ready to stop down the price. The other dealer offered the price and had no stock.
Thanks to croma now we have multiple options here.
You can try and get hold of bigger dealers, tell them about these prices and ask them if the can procure. If you have more numbers then they will try. If not it seems a bit difficult and you can check with croma if they can deliver it to you.
Croma saleman/ stores do not give their numbers now a days. Call their toll free number and ask them for a callback from store.
I am very disappointed. Panasonic having different pricing for each state(almost) , and selling 2010 models still at higher price in these region when there is sales going in other states for 25K less..
Contacted main branch in coimbatore and they contacted "M.D" ,not sure which M.D , and said they cant come below 1L . I told them that another shop in salem is giving at 90K and they said , they cant sell at that price ... Then why the hell do they even call themselves exclusive shops of panasonic ?
In this view Viveks is far far better is getting in thier customers . One last call to CROMA chennai and if i dont get a postive reply , I will be getting ST30 from viveks , no other outlet.
Oh one more thing , Panasonic rep said something about tax .. varying from state to state... but he has half telling the truth.
Thanks to sridublr and sudhirkr for helping me out to get a VT20 from banglore..:yahoo:
You bought it already?? How much cost?
Go to Devi International in Bangalore and through Prankey buy Samsung 51D550 available for 64k now with free 2 3d glasses!!! Thats the best value for money plasma available now.
Maybe VT20 has 5-10% better picture quality but really even D550 is pretty incredible and good enough in almost all situations. Also in 3D mode due to its ability to give more brightness (150cd/m2 for D550 compared to 50cd/m2 for VT20) the D550 gives far better experience for watching movies for hours continuosly.
Even critics agree to this and they had complained about the brightness issue of VT20 last year and Panasonic made ST30 with improved brightness this year (about 105 cd/m2) but still it is not as much as D550.
So either go for ST30 or D550 if you want to watch a lot of 3D movies and play 3D games.
Also the Samsung 3D glasses are most comfortable which is important while watching movies. Panasonic glasses are not as good as samsung glasses.
Samsung 3d glasses are cheapest and you can get 2 glasses for 80$ if you order from korea inclusive of shipping.

The problem is D550 is selling at 75K in salem (viveks) and they are ready to reduce 1-2K max.
I almost once decided to get D550 , but relfection part is where i am very worried about. MY room has 2 windows and one door straightly facing the TV(no curtains). Since my room is in 3rd floor ,the heat is pretty much high , so cant keep the main door closed for long .. Also In my Dell L502X the screen is of excellent quality but reflection part makes it almsot irritating.
How much i can put up with reflection , i dont know. My current 40"LCD samsung even at off state throws no reflection.. all reflection at smudged to highest level..
Also i am worried about black level. reviews have said that d550 gives poor black (0.4-08) max.
Thats why i am going for either vt20(reference model) or st30(infiinite balck 2 panel)
There are a lot of factors that result in overall picture quality, not just brightness. Its the overall package that matters. If budget is not a constraint go with Panasonic VT or ST. you will never regret it. The D550 will not be able to match the black levels by panasonic.
The PS51D550?s most direct competitor is the Panasonic TX-P50ST30, which now costs more and does have some advantages over this cheaper Samsung, including a superior (and consistent) black level: Panasonics 3D plasma goes as dark as 0.03 cd/m2 in all modes, compared to the D550?s 0.04, 0.06, or 0.07 (depending on the video format). The ST30 also has a superior light rejecting screen coating, allowing it to produce a richer picture even when ambient light is present in the room, and slightly better colour accuracy, resulting in picture reproduction which is that bit closer to what was intended by the filmmakers and colourists. However, not one of these categories is actually bad on the PS51D550 its just that theyre slightly better on the Panasonic.
if you do not want to spend that much then by all means go with entry level Samsung 51D550, which is also a very good tv and very good value for money.
