I dont see any brightness problems.
There is some motion issue in SD signals.

If you are coming from CRT. Most certainly will see some issues. Analog signal soes not have sharp transitions and are easy to reproduce.

If you are coming from LCD, you should not see issues in any plasma.

As to gamma, i have read in forums that 2.2 to 2.4 is perfect for vt20 in controlled environment they say. sorry to move from the thread topic thogh

Yes 2.2 is the best for HD.

Again, as I told earlier, I posted those settings for SD (to remove the green/yellow cast). S-Curve gamma compromises on extereme black and extereme white details to get more of mid range details.

SD pictures have mostly mid level details only and very little extereme white and black details. So S-Curve is more suited for SD.

You have to realize that the western countries have mostly moved away from viewing SD. Caliberators not even consider SD as an option nowadays.

The way LEDs are racing, it looks like they will meet the plasmas in black level and motion performance in COMPARABLE price range in 2013 or 2014. Even now if you are able to spend 1.5 to 2 times for the same size, you get as much performance in dark and better performance in bright light.

Your very right. Might be even in 2012, as hx925 prices have reduced and moreover there is speculation of samsung and sony working together to improve the LED's to challenge the panasonic plasmas.

But tell me one thing, LED's are trying to improve the control over backlighting to produce betterblacks and white and also improving refresh rate with otion blur, xreality etc. But techniques like Motion flow and xreality that introduce false frames in between to improve the refresh rate are still like simulation and reflect the inability of the LCD panels to operate beyond the 50Hz Speed. I feel these these simulation and extra rendering capabilities cannot reproduce the efect of plasma always and some places they would definitely fail.

Overall LED's are trying to catch up with plasma on picture quality with Edge. RGB LED etc but are never trying to create anything new for plasma to catch up. they're promotion are only about the stylish finish of the panel/TV and negative promotion against plasma.

Its more like improvements to reach the benchamark and not set any benchmark as such. Again just my opinion. No offence at all .

Currently in my place , Salem tamilnadu availability of VT20 is not there and Panasonic made tough with their pamphlet showing vt20 at 1L and no one in my place have updated price.One shop offers Vt20 for 90k what shall I do ? St30 is at 1L need suggestion and help. And also any members from Tamil madu can help me ? Same shop owner said if any customer got for below 90k he would give the tv for that price ..

Does Nashik have croma stores? If yes, call croma toll free and ask them if they can deliver to Nashik from Mumbai. I think they can. I got my set delivered from Mumbai to Pune.

4) VT20 comes with 2 glasses for 74k and ST30 comes with 1 glass for 1L. The additional glass costs 10k extra.

Sent you a PM. Pls check. Also call croma toll free and ask if they can deliver but keep this as last option as you wont get support if they miss to deliver anything (like the wall mount in my case!)

thats mainly coz of the stupid pamphlet panasonic has distributed to all stores for this diwali..

In it , it says that VT20 cost at 1.1L and ST30 @ 1.17K

Had a disatrous tour today. Jsut returned back , exhausted and kind of humiliated..

Not even one sales rep have any kind of knowledge . they are quick to tell me the "Freebies" each Plasma will give you. and IT has become some kind of trend to mention "3D"


here is the price i got thus far (includes all the normal freebies each model currently comes with)

ST30 50" - [strike]Last price as of now 1.02L[/strike] Just got a call , he reduced it to 95K
VT20 50" - Last price 90K
D550 51" - 75K (but didnt bargain on it)

VT20D is almost running out of stock guys , that thing is for sure. and people here dont understand the history of each TV. they consider everyting as same TV , cant blame them.

I am going to contact CROMA store and enquire about the availabilty , price details and shipping. I worried about shipping , as we did come across few shipping related issues Plasma

One more thing , i did contact Panasonic officials , unfortunately the one who is responsible for tamilnadu Plasma dept is out on a condolence call.. :sad:

hopefully if he comes back tomorrow , i can enquire him directly.


in all these there was one funny thing though, while visiting a shop , I enquired about VT20D and from the way they were behaving you can say they dont know even a single Sh!t about TV`s. and the owner said "we sold VT20D yesterday one piece for 1.47L , if you need one , please pay some advance , we will get you one..." :lol::lol::lol:

It was an outright lie and i cant believe myself he said that...:indifferent14:

All the prices you guys post , does it include tax also ? One sales guys said that 75K (I showed hifivision thread ) posted doesnt include tax and if included will come to 90K , is this true ?

I checked in croma chennai when i wanted to purchase my ST30 and they had only a display piece of 42V20 which they offered me for 50K, also they had the price for only X30 in their price list... In fact Reliance showroom didn't any panasonic model.

Infact the Salesman in panasonic brandshop took a day to chk for the stock and told me that no new stock was available in chennai warehouse. He said he can offer me 50VT20 which was there as a display piece in his showroom for a lower price but i didn't show interest since i had seen it in display for more than 5 months.....

50VT20D price never went down, it was given on 4+1 offer last month and retailers started selling it for lesser price. 2 panasonic brandshops in chennai mentioned this to me and they also told that they can't bill below MRP. I have visited each and every showroom in chennai last month but none of them came down below 1 lakh... if you'r getting 2 3D glasses for VT20 @ 90K and if it's a new piece better go for it else go for ST30....
