why dont you guys drop a mail to amar radio or someone like that. or contact the local distributors, the quantities you want, they should be able to give to you. most of the capacitor companies have distributors here.

yes you remember it right
. i got some a couple of months ago at that price. i believe arihant is also a distributor for some. then there is also arrow electronics, which is probably a distributor for half the caps in half the world. they also have an office here.
After discussions and inputs from other FMs, it looks like we have multiple local options for PS caps. We should check out the best option from Bangalore (Amar radio and other distributors) and Elna (which I guess will be from Hyderabad) and finalize one of them. Does this sound reasonable?

Yesterday i found these 10000uf/63v caps in our local market at Koti(Hyderabad).
Because of Sachin's reqest, I bought one for sample at the price Rs 120/-

Ltd. - Manufacturer of Electrolytic Capacitors,Power Capacitors,Induction Heating Capacitors,Resonance Capacitors,Snubber Capacitors,DC Link Capacitors in India.) and lemme know. They have provided datasheet of the caps (http://www.alconelectronics.com/Pdf/PG-6DI-CDR-1-Oct-2011.pdf).
I donno whether those are good caps. But i can supply if anybody wants.

Here are pic of Power Cap which I purchased locally 2 months back. It was Rs 80/-each. It bears letters NIPPON CHEMICON Audio 105C
Out of three logos it has dash present in the logo at left and right but absent in the logo at middle. I verified all other caps in the box.
So,seems okay to me.
I went to Sanghvi electronics, I checked out ELNA caps. There is no way for me to identify whether it is a fake or not.
The Shop looks legitimate for me. He says he sells them in hundreds.
Not sure. WHile searching on DIYAUDIO, I saw thread discussing about ELNA cap being fake or not. THe ones I saw on the DIY AUDIO are speacially marked as AUDIO which these ones dont have the audio on it. No serial number printed on it.
At this moment I feel, As CAPS play a very important role, I would suggest individuals can make their own purchases as there are personal tastes and preferences involved.
LEt me know your opinion.

When locally made Caps are priced between Rs 300/- to 400/-, how the imported and exotic ones are available between Rs 100/- to Rs 200/-. I am not able to justify the prices.:sad:

The very same thought came to my mind as well, hence i shoot the info. to the community whether anybody already familiar with this brand. But these caps are big in size. Anyway anybody have any info. regarding these caps lemme know.
I am building Jean Hiraga - Le Monstre Class A Amp. It really needs big cap. value. So was trying whether any good caps are available locally or else choose the other way we all follow!
And for your information Vishay caps are build in India but have you checked its price anytime? 15000uF caps cost 750INR above or so, though its locally build.

We can get Panasonic/Nippon/ 100000uf caps in Rs 300 or less from authorised sources.Cornell Dublier 10000uf can be bought under Rs 200.

I broached the issue of finding difficulty in buying capacitors for the group. He seems to know genuine sources for the caps in Richie Street. Tell me how many caps and their values are required by us.
