DIY: Pass F5 turbo v2 initiated

@kroyin, if I remember correctly then you already had some experience with this. Can you please share it?

Yes I saw it inside Norge amp, even small version 4700uF is used by me in my 40+40W amp. I did not find any issue. But kroyin noticed difference within power cap changes in his previous F5 build.

Swamha caps are not good for this application. You can find bad reviews in bad cap forums.I think they are subsidiary of Samsung group. They are used with most of the LCD/LED monitors and failing rate is very high.
All Samsung LCD TV owners - take note, bad caps saga again!
EEVblog #365 - ESR Meter Bad Cap Monitor Repair - Page 1
You will find bad reviews everywhere.

Na it was not samwha, it was a Chinese cap and the difference after putting Panasonic was perceptible. In Class A amps PSU caps have a great effect on bass & soundstage.
So get the best based on availability & affordability.

About Samwhas ...they are Korean & the primary cap supplier to Samsung.
They don't have a lot of reviews & I couldn't locate datasheets with ESR ripple etc.
A 10000uF 50v 85C would set you back 80-90 bucks. As things stand now I'll pull the Panasonic from the F5 & put it in F5T, put samwhas in F5

All things considered I'll jump @ CDE'S @ 150.I'll infact get the 15k 50v (again price & participation dependent)

Hi Kroyin,
I could not even find any datasheet for Samwha.

Received a set of the F5T boards from Sachin, thank you! Very nice :ohyeah:

I stuffed one of the PS boards with some tasty Nichicon FG 10000uf 50V caps that came from buzzforb's diyaudio GB

Good luck with your search for a supply of PS caps. Over here, on the other side of the pond, we have access to all the small parts at reasonable prices.

Thanks to Omishra and Sanchin for making these boards available. I built an F5 amplifier and it is a superb piece of equipment and was a lot of fun to put together.

Regards,
Sachin

Me too I am intrested in the group buy for the 15000mf ones. Let me know the price.

Thanks

I'd be interested too. Count me in for the Panasonics or Nichicons.

Enquired again,Panasonic 10000uf 50v would cost us Rs350/piece.Min quantity would be 250 for this price.I am Ok with cornell dubelliar 10000/15000uf.I have seen DIY Audio members using this brand in F5. We have used them in B1 with good results.

Sachin

Today i bought ALCON 22000uF 40V Caps for my Le Monstre Class A amp.

I have attached few images of the caps.

According to me for high current applications P2P connection is the best choice rather than mounting on PCB's, but with PCB we can do that also by double wiring over the pcb's high current flow path.

But i personally feel this is the best way to do since we have freedom to level up the guage of the conductor by our wish and also can neatly place the caps bank exotically.

Anyway these caps are real monsters!

Me too :). I got 14 sets for connectors and local parts. 15 sets of 3020 diodes, 15 sets of stereo MOSFETs. Total Rs ~70K I will give detail for each of it later time. Please bear with me.

Om & Sachin,

Wonderful service from you guys. Not just the knowledge about the subject but also the labour going each and every item purchasing them, maintaining inventory, accounts. One Hell of Job you guys are doing. If not for you guys I would not have taken up F5 v2 build.

Om, sachin,

I am not sure how much more I need to pay. Please let me know.

Also you can put up a list of dues per person in your next post then I guess everybody who is participating in the GB should be paying back.

Thanks

Sure Pandu! We already estimated amounts and hope to finish within it except few unforeseen situations like local octri, Custom duties on big parcels (if any). I keep adding to list by preserving receipts.

My God replacing components on these boards is pure hell :-D
Threw everything at it pump, wick, hotair, toothpick but the holes and the pad are so tiny putting components back in is very difficult for me :-D

After considerable difficulty put the JFETS in (8mA to replace 10mA)
not sure whether I'll able to change a faulty trimpot

A beautiful, well-constructed speaker with class-leading soundstage, imaging and bass that is fast, deep, and precise.
